Role Overview

Major Item Repairman (MIR) Senior Field Engineer I at RTX, located in El Paso, Texas, US (7201 Montana Ave, Building M2), with assignment to Saudi Arabia. Onsite role supporting the HAWK and Patriot Sustainment Contract (HPSC) Program.

Role Purpose

Provide in-depth system knowledge and field expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex Patriot missile system Major End Items (MEI) electronic and mechanical problems, performing depot-level diagnostics, repairs, and functional verification to specified standards.

Key Responsibilities

System Maintenance and Repair

• Perform detailed troubleshooting and fault isolation on Patriot Air Defense system Major End Items using maintenance diagnostics, unit self-tests, built-in test (BITE), and available test equipment.
• Conduct direct maintenance on the ECS, RS, and LS components.
• Execute all electronic repairs on location with detailed system knowledge using hardware and software tools available to Organizational and Intermediate Maintenance.
• Perform depot-level diagnostic, fault isolation, cleanup, and repair capability for PATRIOT Weapon System MEIs.
• Utilize system diagnostics, BITE, software, and external test equipment at organizational, intermediate, and depot levels to isolate and troubleshoot system faults.

Modifications and Installations

• Install authorized third echelon modifications on equipment.
• Implement and install approved Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
• Execute Department of the Army Modification Work Order (DAMWO) installations, including integration and checkout.

Oversight and Quality Assurance

• Monitor work performed by subordinates to ensure it meets or exceeds established quality standards.
• Functionally verify that MEIs perform to specified standards.
• Demonstrate capability in refurbishment and modification processes.

Training and Safety

• Participate in on-the-job training (OJT) programs.
• Assist the section officer in enforcing safety policies, procedures, and standards.
• Perform other duties and activities as directed.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum four (four) years of field maintenance experience troubleshooting, fault isolation, repair, and functional verifications of the Patriot Air Defense system or similar electronic systems using maintenance diagnostics, unit self-tests, BITE, tools, and available test equipment.
• Successful completion of a Patriot System Intermediate Maintenance Course for MOS 27X/34S/94S/916A/918D or an equivalent course of instruction on Patriot system conducted by the military or the system contractor.
• Certified Patriot System Repairer (94S).
• Bachelor's degree, or four (4) years of relevant experience; alternatively, High School Degree/GED with equivalent job-related experience based on four (4) additional years of experience for each one (1) year of higher education.
• Demonstrated experience with Department of the Army Modification Work Order (DAMWO) installations, including integration and checkout.
• Must be able to obtain a Saudi Arabia work Visa.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued SECRET security clearance required prior to start date.
• U.S. citizenship required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five (5) years Patriot Depot Forward maintenance experience.
• Demonstrated experience with Raytheon Quality Control procedures.
• Demonstrated experience of the Patriot refurbishment, modification, and system integration and check out (SICO) process.
• Demonstrated experience with Contractor Logistics Support.
• Demonstrated comprehensive planning skills.
• Exceptional judgment and decision-making skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with special focus on achieving active participation of appropriate individuals across the business.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Project.
• Demonstrated experience with training of team members.
• Previous experience in International Patriot Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Programs.
• Experience living and working in an overseas location.

Additional Information

• Position type: Onsite. Employees in onsite roles work primarily onsite as essential to product development.
• Salary range: USD 86,800 to USD 165,200. RTX considers role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills when extending an offer.
