Maintenance Technician

Role Overview

Maintenance Technician at Vanderlande. This role delivers electromechanical maintenance activities on site, solving errors for minor and major system components within the scope of the service contract.

Role Purpose

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electromechanical and baggage handling system (BHS) equipment. Monitor and maintain performance of equipment to ensure operational continuity and resolve system failures proactively.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Operations

• Execute daily maintenance activities on site.
• Carry out electrical and mechanical corrective and preventive maintenance.
• Perform daily inspections and fault findings.
• Monitor daily equipment condition.
• Maintain and monitor performance of minor and major equipment of the baggage handling system.
• Ensure preventive maintenance of the BHS is carried out properly and in a timely manner.

Problem-Solving & Fault Resolution

• Solve errors on electrical and mechanical equipment of the automated baggage handling system.
• Identify causes of and rectify equipment failures.
• Resolve any errors or faults in a proactive manner.
• Respond quickly and rapidly to reported errors or failures.
• Solve problems in anticipation to avoid any disruption to operations.

System Control & Monitoring

• Control baggage flows and correct flow disturbances.
• Identify issues that need attention for proposed improvements.

Knowledge & Continuous Improvement

• Act as an all-round maintenance specialist on BHS minor and major equipment.
• Deal with exceptional cases and transfer knowledge to others.
• Instruct team members, determine standards, and propose ideas for improvements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Middle level of vocational and/or technical education.
• 10 years of overall experience as an electromechanical technician.
• Minimum 4 years' experience as a BHS electromechanical technician (preferred experience in similar working environment).
• Preferred experience in baggage handling systems (BHS).
• Electromechanical (EM) specialist certification or equivalent.

Skills & Competencies

• Ability to read and understand electromechanical schematics and/or drawings.
• Electromechanical fault-finding capability and restoration.
• Metrics and/or multi-meter signal measurement knowledge.
• Knowledge of BHS controls equipment.
• Ability to work under stressful situations and pressure.
• Communicate, read, and write English at mid to high level.
• Flexibility and capability to take over or hand over work to the next shift team.
• Self-reliant in a variety of less interrelated technical tasks.
• Act independently in several technical tasks with consistency.
• Tune own work pace to activities of others as needed by operations.
