Maintenance Technician

Role Overview

Maintenance Technician at Vanderlande. This is a shift-based, on-site role providing electromechanical maintenance and support for baggage handling systems.

Role Purpose

Perform preventive and corrective electromechanical maintenance on baggage handling system (BHS) equipment, solve system errors affecting minor and major components, and maintain optimal equipment performance according to service contract scope.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Equipment Care

• Execute daily maintenance activities on electromechanical and BHS equipment.
• Carry out electrical and mechanical corrective and preventive maintenance.
• Ensure preventive maintenance of the BHS is carried out properly and in a timely manner.
• Maintain and monitor performance of minor and major equipment of the baggage handling system.

Fault Diagnosis & Problem-Solving

• Solve errors on electrical and mechanical equipment of the automated baggage handling system.
• Identify causes of and rectify equipment failures.
• Resolve errors proactively to avoid disruption to operations.
• Demonstrate quick and rapid response to reported errors or failures.
• Perform electromechanical fault-finding and restoration.

Monitoring & Inspections

• Conduct daily inspections and fault findings.
• Monitor equipment condition daily.
• Control baggage flows and correct flow disturbances.

Operations & Knowledge Transfer

• Tune own work pace to activities of others as needed by operations.
• Demonstrate flexibility and capability to take over or hand over work to the next shift team.
• Transfer knowledge, instruct others, and propose ideas for improvements.
• Identify issues that need attention for proposed improvements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Middle level of vocational and/or technical education.
• Overall 10 years of experience as electromechanical technician.
• Minimum 4 years' experience as BHS electromechanical technician.
• Preferred experience in similar working environments and baggage handling systems (BHS).

Skills & Competencies

• Electromechanical (EM) specialist with fault-finding capability.
• Able to read and understand EM schematics and/or drawings.
• Knowledge of metrics and/or multi-meter signal measurement.
• Knowledge of BHS controls equipment.
• Ability to work under stressful situations and pressure.
• Communicate, read, and write English at mid to high level.
• Self-reliant and capable of acting independently in various technical tasks with consistency.
• All-round maintenance specialist on BHS minor and major equipment.
