Maintenance Manager

Role Overview

Maintenance Manager at Carmeuse. This role owns the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability while optimizing costs and safety across the operation.

Role Purpose

Lead the design and delivery of autonomous, preventative, and predictive maintenance programs. Partner with operations and maintenance teams to assess equipment condition, drive failure prevention, manage maintenance budgets, and support the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program's Focus Improvement Pillar.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Programs

• Develop and administer the Autonomous Maintenance, Preventative, and Predictive Maintenance program.
• Review on a regular basis the quality of inspection checklists and their frequency.
• Coordinate and participate in vibration analysis activities, oil analysis, non-destructive testing, ultrasonic activities, infrared activities, and all other advanced detection activities as required.
• Review PM services to ensure they are conducted on time and according to standards.
• Support the Focus Improvement Pillar of the TPM program.

Equipment Assessment & Management

• Assess installed equipment to ensure maintainability, parts, maintenance instructions, prints, and adequacy of design and installation works.
• Review repair history and costs to determine repair, rebuild, overhaul, or corrective maintenance needs.
• Manage equipment history records to provide feedback for work orders, information for preventative and predictive maintenance activities, and environmental compliance assurance documentation.
• Conduct studies to increase equipment reliability while reducing maintenance costs.
• Recommend modifications or replacements to increase reliability.

Analysis & Problem-Solving

• Review equipment inspection deficiencies as a source of corrective maintenance.
• Routinely lead failure analysis teams to determine root causes of failures or problems.
• Make improvement suggestions when reviewing proposed CAPEX or major maintenance projects.

Operations & Scheduling

• Interface with Maintenance and Operations to schedule and prioritize inspections and repair work.
• Identify equipment problems that may impact negatively the process.

Systems & Performance Management

• Select, implement, train, and support systems such as CMMS.
• Constantly review information systems to ensure their adequacy.
• Use information systems to review key performance indicators assessing the adequacy of maintenance programs.

Budget & Cost Management

• Help develop standards for individual major jobs, procedures for performing work, cost levels, and quantity of resources used.
• Periodically make cost-benefit reviews to determine actions which have to be made or bought.
• Record and analyze reports from all maintenance activities to ensure necessary repairs are planned and executed prior to equipment deterioration, maximize equipment reliability, make use of available resources, and minimize costs.

Workforce Development

• Develop recommendations for training.
• Whenever possible, get production personnel involved in doing inspection and lubrication tasks.
