Lubricants Operations Team Leader

Role Overview

Lubricants Operations Team Leader at ADNOC. This role plans and supervises blending and filling operations under toll blending companies (third-party contract) for production of lubricants, greases, and specialty oils. The Team Leader coordinates with toll blending companies to ensure smooth, timely, and cost-effective production aligned with production schedules, in coordination with sales, planning, and lube stores functions. The role includes managing storage and distribution of GRP-III base oils, in-house production of ADNOC Blue, and maintaining ISO 9001 quality assurance documentation for the lube, grease, and chemical production plant.

Role Purpose

To supervise toll blending operations and in-house lubricants production, ensuring compliance with ISO standards and delivery schedules while optimizing costs and quality. Coordinate receipt of raw materials, manage finished product distribution, and drive operational efficiency across blending, filling, GRP-III base oils, and ADNOC Blue production lines.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning

• Assist blending companies in organizing blending and filling schedules using weekly production programmes prepared by the planning engineer for export and local products.
• Coordinate with blending companies to prepare and issue daily lube and grease blending and filling programs aligned with the weekly production program.
• Receive daily bulk delivery plans from lube stores and the planning engineer.

Blending, Filling and Grease Manufacturing Operations

• Prepare monthly cost of goods sold (COGS) for all lubricants and greases in line with toll blending operations agreements between ADD and third-party manufacturers.
• Calculate monthly, weekly, and daily materials requirement planning to release production orders to toll blenders for timely production of ADNOC finished lubricants, greases, and specialty products.
• Oversee daily lube blending and grease manufacturing operations and bulk deliveries to ensure compliance with ISO 9001-2015 and quality control standards.
• Supervise toll blending company operations and monitor daily production output.
• Arrange issuance of raw materials and packing materials from stores to toll blending companies for daily production activities and update SAP system for timely recording of production and materials movement transactions.
• Ensure correct formulation is used for lube blending and grease manufacturing by comparing with Quality Control Laboratory samples against set formulas.
• Supervise and oversee withdrawal of finished product samples (lubes, industrial oil, specialty oil, grease) from kettles and send to Laboratory for testing.
• Coordinate and follow up with Laboratory for quality testing and obtain necessary quality control approval before starting filling operations.
• Arrange any necessary adjustments, such as further blending.
• Oversee blending process to ensure ISO 9001-2015 quality control procedures are adhered to at all times during blending, filling, and grease manufacturing.
• Oversee and provide guidance in managing overall filling operations according to daily bucket and drum filling plans.
• Monitor and ensure staff adheres to quality and safe working procedures during filling operations.

GRP-III Base Oils Operations Management

• Lead GRP-III base oils terminal activities in accordance with regulations and company procedures.
• Maintain appropriate operational standards ensuring compliance with management systems, procedures, and local and global standards and legislation.
• Manage supply procedures including GRP-III vessel discharge operation, storage, and truck loading operations.
• Check and control product volume, inflows and outflows, and overall loss/gain of GRP-III base oils stored at the terminal.
• Work actively with terminal employees to ensure adherence with agreed terms and conditions of the base oil storage agreement.

ADNOC Blue Operations Management

• Lead in-house production operations of ADNOC Blue in line with ISO 22241.
• Manage timely supply of urea solution from FERTIL.
• Off-load and store raw materials according to quality and safety standards.
• Manage filling operations of ADNOC Blue according to sales requirements for timely supply to ADD customers.

Slow Moving Product Management

• Coordinate necessary adjustments such as further blending.
• Ensure re-blending of slow or non-moving lube grades by coordinating with the Laboratory and Quality Control to produce better selling grades, reduce waste, and promote savings.

Inventory Control and Reconciliation

• Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly dip taking of base oils and additives storage tanks using calibration records to check volume and temperature and calculate correct quantities to ensure sufficient material availability.
• Oversee preparation of daily base oil and additives stock statements showing existing bulk material stock by tank and product type.

Raw Material Receipt and Stocking

• Arrange and oversee receipt, sampling, and discharge of bulk liquid additives containers and ensure delivery discharge into correct tanks.
• Check quantity and quality, prepare goods received notes manually for approval by department manager, and submit to lube stores.
• Oversee product receipt from vessel including deciding discharge sequence, gaining vessel master approval, checking quality prior to unloading, pigging to eliminate contamination between products, and ensuring documents verify that delivered quantity corresponds with bill of lading.

ISO Audit Management

• Undertake ISO coordinator duties for the Production Optimization Department and assist department manager with control, distribution, disposal, and upgrade of related documents.
• Ensure timely completion of non-compliance reports and attend review meetings to address shortcomings within the division.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

• Monitor budget and continuously review manpower and operating expenses of toll blending operations, transportation costs, and inventory losses.
• Continuously review various cost elements and develop and drive initiatives for increasing productivity and reducing overall cost of operations.
• Ensure updating of daily production details in system.
• Use production information to prepare daily blending reports, monthly stock statements, and other reports as required, such as consumption of each ingredient.
• Facilitate preparation and reporting of strategic business objectives and initiatives using balanced scorecard methodology and act as balanced scorecard coordinator.

Expansion and New Projects

• Coordinate and follow up with EPD on progress of new projects concerning lubricants and ensure all necessary support is provided at location for timely completion.
• Participate in project reviews including HAZOP, HSEIA, HAZID, and Risk Assessment as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation, or Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• 10 years of experience in Oil and Gas Industry in lube, grease, and specialty oil production, including 6 years in a managerial role.
