Lighting Designer

Role Overview

Lighting Designer at Emrb. This role designs, sets up, and operates studio lighting for live news bulletins, talk shows, and special broadcasts.

Role Purpose

To deliver optimal visual quality and consistency across all broadcast productions by designing and managing dynamic lighting schemes that enhance on-air storytelling and maintain technical broadcast standards.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Setup

• Design lighting schemes for live news bulletins, talk shows, and special broadcasts.
• Collaborate closely with directors, camera operators, and set designers to create lighting setups that enhance visual storytelling of news programs.
• Support the setup and lighting design for special interviews, breaking news segments, and remote studio productions when required.

Live Operations

• Operate studio lighting schemes during broadcasts.
• Program and operate lighting control consoles and systems to manage lighting cues efficiently during live and recorded productions.
• Adjust and balance lighting levels in real time during live broadcasts to accommodate presenter movements, camera angles, and changing studio conditions.

Maintenance & Technical Support

• Maintain and troubleshoot studio lighting equipment including LED panels, spotlights, soft lights, and lighting rigs, ensuring operational readiness at all times.
• Coordinate with the technical and engineering teams for installation, maintenance, and upgrades of lighting systems within the studio.

Compliance & Standards

• Ensure compliance with broadcast technical standards to deliver consistent lighting quality across multiple cameras and studio environments.
