Role Overview
Lead Engineer - Fleet Management at Baker Hughes. The Regional Product Service Engineering team supports the operation and maintenance of Heavy-duty gas turbines, Aero turbines, centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, and their Controls systems, Protection and Accessory systems.
Role Purpose
As a Lead Product Service Engineer for Control Systems, you will uphold Baker Hughes' product integrity by proactively identifying customer issues, investigating technical anomalies, providing technical assessments at component and systems levels, and communicating Baker Hughes technical solutions to customers. You will provide timely technical solutions for Heavy Duty, Aero Derivative and compressor control systems, and support Motor issues in EMCC-driven trains.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Issue Resolution
- Respond to internal and external customer requests for technical issue resolution using technical product knowledge and analytical skills while adhering to sound engineering principles, standards, practices, and procedures.
- Escalate issues as required, acting as the liaison between field and design engineering to drive specific technical resolution.
- Help engineering identify and drive corrective actions.
Customer Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain relationships with customers to ensure their technical issues and requirements are understood and addressed in a timely manner.
Root Cause Analysis & Investigation
- Lead and program manage root cause analysis and investigation activities for product technical issues.
- Interface with Product Service, System and Design Engineering teams, providing technical leadership to personnel supporting projects assigned to resolve customer technical issues.
Technical Communication & Presentations
- Prepare technical presentations for Baker Hughes leaders and customers ensuring timely communication of significant issues or developments.
Field Support & Travel
- Travel to customer locations to support customer technical review meetings and present recommendations to champion Baker Hughes' commitment to technical solutions.
- Support unplanned and forced outages to meet reliability and availability goals.
- Provide commercial teams with technical support for sales and services proposal activities.
- Be ready to travel at short notice 20 to 25% of the time.
- Be available to work during weekends for emergency technical support.
Outage Management
- Plan and provide technical engineering oversight to Contractual Services and Field Services teams during planned outages to meet reliability and availability goals.
Supplier & Program Coordination
- Partner with Design Engineering teams and interface with external and internal suppliers to facilitate the logistical implementation of Fleet Program technical solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electronics, Control & Instrumentation, or Electrical & Electronics) or equivalent.
- 5โ10 years' experience in operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Heavy Duty, Aero Derivative, and compressor control systems.
- 5โ10 years' experience with Motor issues in EMCC-driven trains.
- Knowledge of MarkVI, MarkVIe, MarkVIeS, and Compressor Controls systems.
- Knowledge of VFDs, Motors, and their protection systems.
