Lead Commissioning Specialist -DCS

Role Overview

Lead Commissioning Specialist – DCS at GE VERNOVA. This role manages installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware and software products in the DCS Controls Services Business portfolio across customer sites.

Role Purpose

Lead the installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of DCS control systems on-site. Provide technical direction to customers, manage field resources, ensure contractual compliance, and deliver accurate reporting to clients, plant owners and construction partners on project progress and technical matters.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Commissioning

• Actively manage controls and instrumentation activities on-site during installation, commissioning and maintenance of upgrade projects or new installations.
• Oversee installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and diagnostics for DCS controls systems including Mark Vie, Cimplicity, HMI and NW switches.
• Set up and modify hardware and software associated with DCS of BOP, Gas and Steam Turbine systems.
• Supervise cable laying, insulation resistance (Megger) testing and connection work.

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

• Provide customers with technical direction and support on Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) packaged products.
• Troubleshoot existing DCS control hardware and software installations on-site.
• Understand PLC ladder logic and navigate through ladder rungs while troubleshooting.
• Trace through software documentation.
• Implement DCS control constant modifications.
• Read and modify software sequencing.
• Provide expert consultation on complex projects.

Planning & Coordination

• Prepare field service jobs and coordinate with project and service managers.
• Conduct pre-outage and installation planning; recommend and administer policies and procedures as needed.
• Understand Terms and Conditions (T&C) commitments.
• Ensure contractual obligations are met.

Customer Management & Training

• Provide informal and formal training to customer employees as needed.
• Attend technical meetings with customers.
• Maintain accurate timesheets and acquire customer signatures on timesheets before leaving the job site.
• Drive customer satisfaction through commitment to quality.

Reporting & Administration

• Prepare field service reports within one week of job completion.
• Provide timely and accurate internal and external reports.
• Timely and accurately input hours, expenses and timesheets in internal systems.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all in-field activities are carried out safely and in compliance with company environmental, health and safety (EHS) guidelines and procedures.

Business Development

• Support business growth initiatives.
• You may be assigned to other duties to help proactively drive GE Gas Power Controls vision and align with the organization's core values.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in electronic or electrical engineering, or Diploma in Engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in GEV DCS control systems such as Mark Vie.
• Minimum of 10 years of working experience in Oil & Gas and Power Plant industry field activities.
• Strong knowledge in rotating equipment control philosophy including Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Centrifugal Compressor, Reciprocating Compressor and their auxiliaries.
• Strong knowledge in synchronous machine control philosophy for generators and their auxiliaries.
• Strong knowledge in unit control panel (UCP), motor control center (MCC), direct current panel (DCP), control system (DCS) and firefighting system installation and commissioning.
• Strong knowledge in field devices, instruments and actuators such as servo-valves, thermal elements and transmitters.
• Ability to handle special tools including pressure pump, multi-meter, frequency generator, oscilloscope and field generator.
• Ability to understand and implement technical drawings including wiring diagrams, P&IDs and General Arrangement drawings.
• Valid driver's license and passport, or ability to obtain a passport.
• Strong computer skills using MS Office Software Suite.
• Fluent English.
