Landscaping Laborer

Role Overview

Landscaping Laborer at Ajman University. The role maintains the green grounds of the AU campus by using hand or power tools or equipment to perform a variety of landscaping tasks.

Role Purpose

The Landscape Laborer maintains the green grounds of AU campus outdoors, working with limited indoor time, applying training in planting and tool handling, analyzing landscaping problems, and applying general knowledge about landscaping.

Key Responsibilities

Grounds Monitoring & Maintenance

• Monitor the entire landscape or designated area of the university.
• Monitor and maintain plant health.
• Perform groundskeeping tasks including sod laying, mowing, mulching, edging, pruning, fertilizing, digging, raking, and other lawn, plant, or tree care maintenance duties.

Planting & Plant Care

• Plant, water, and tend to any plants, shrubs, or trees.
• Install sprinkle systems.
• Remove unwanted or damaged plants or trees.

Hardscape Installation

• Install mortarless segmental concrete masonry wall units.

Qualifications & Experience

• High school certificate minimum.
• Minimum 2 years of experience related to landscaping duties and responsibilities.
• General knowledge about the landscape.

Skills & Competencies

• Good hand skills and teamwork ability.
• Familiarity with landscaping tools or equipment.
• Competency in specific materials, methods, tools, equipment, and techniques required to complete tasks safely and responsibly.
• Ability to work with landscaping hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, heavy equipment, and materials.
• Capable of operating landscaping tools or equipment.
• Excellent stamina.

Working Conditions

• Work outdoors and indoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold.
• Work is performed with physical effort as required.
• Work can be strenuous and may involve considerable lifting, carrying, and bending with exposure to physical risk.
