Role Purpose
The Kitchen Steward supports the Employee Restaurant and maintains a clean, safe, and well-organised kitchen, equipment, and back-of-house areas ready for daily operations, enabling the delivery of great food.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning and Sanitation
- Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, and working areas
- Keep the Employee Restaurant kitchen and surrounding areas clean and hygienic
- Clean and properly store equipment after use
- Maintain clean and organised storage areas
Equipment and Preparation
- Prepare kitchen equipment for daily use
- Take care of kitchen equipment and report any damage or safety concerns
Supply and Waste Management
- Support the receiving, handling, and storage of supplies
- Handle waste and linen safely and correctly
Operations Support
- Follow hygiene, health and safety procedures at all times
- Support the culinary team during busy meal periods
Qualifications & Experience
- Primary or high school education, or equivalent relevant experience
- Previous stewarding, cleaning, or kitchen experience (advantageous)
Skills & Competencies
- Strength to lift, push, and pull large objects up to 50 lbs (23 kg), which can involve bending and kneeling
- Good understanding of cleanliness and personal hygiene
- Ability to work in a physically active environment
- Reliable, hardworking, and team-focused attitude
- Willingness to support the team wherever needed
- Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and public holidays
