IT Systems Engineer

Role Overview

IT Systems Engineer at BlackStone eIT. The role is based onsite and provides consultancy and technical expertise for an enterprise IT environment.

Role Purpose

Review, assess, troubleshoot, and provide recommendations to enhance the performance, availability, security, and reliability of the organization's IT infrastructure. The role covers Microsoft infrastructure, Cisco collaboration, VMware virtualization and Disaster Recovery, servers and storage, backup, incident management, and IT service management.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Review & Assessment

• Review IT systems and infrastructure performance and provide technical recommendations.
• Perform root-cause analysis for system-related incidents and recommend effective solutions to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure high availability, optimal performance, security, and reliability of IT systems.

Planning & Strategy

• Develop plans to improve application availability and performance.
• Develop forecasts for server and storage growth based on business requirements.
• Develop and maintain a documented roadmap for systems and infrastructure products.
• Develop capacity planning, risk management, and Business Continuity Plans in line with applicable ISO standards.
• Develop and maintain Disaster Recovery Plans and participate in DR drill execution.

Policies, Standards & Procedures

• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for systems operations.
• Support the development and maintenance of IT security policies, processes, standards, procedures, and internal controls.

Compliance & Governance

• Support compliance with UAE IA Standards, NESA, and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Ensure IT solutions and implementations are secure, reliable, cost-effective, and fit for purpose.

Operations & Support

• Provide L2/L3 support for infrastructure incidents.
• Participate in Major Incident Management activities.
• Work within an ITIL framework.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with vendors, suppliers, and third parties to ensure industry best practices are followed.
• Provide technical recommendations regarding infrastructure improvements and emerging technologies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in IT management and troubleshooting within reputable organizations.
• Strong experience in enterprise IT infrastructure and systems.
• Experience with L2/L3 infrastructure support.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities.
• Experience with Disaster Recovery and DR drill execution.
• Experience working within an ITIL framework.
• Experience participating in Major Incident Management.
• Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
