HSES Specialist

Role Overview

HSES Specialist at McDermott. This is a field-based and administrative position offering considerable autonomy in a dynamic environment.

Role Purpose

Apply conceptual knowledge of HSES across field operations and business administration. Balance autonomous decision-making with collaborative support to frontline teams and junior staff while maintaining compliance with company, facility, and project-specific HSES requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Development and Implementation

• Assist in the development and implementation of HSES plans, procedures, and instructions.
• Develop Toolbox Talk plans and supporting material.
• Assist in the development and implementation of HSES initiatives.

Guidance and Mentorship

• Provide HSES guidance to frontline supervision and field personnel.
• Provide mentorship and coaching to junior HSES staff.
• Observe and assist supervision during the delivery of Toolbox Talks.

Compliance and Risk Management

• Assist in HSES prequalification of subcontractors and vendors.
• Monitor subcontractors and vendors to ensure compliance with safe work practices.
• Participate in risk assessments and ensure risk registries are maintained up to date.
• Assist with the planning of Permits to Work, conduct inspections, and ensure compliance to Permit to Work controls.

Audits and Inspections

• Assist in preparing and conducting HSES audits and inspections.
• Initiate, monitor, and report on the progress of audit and inspection findings.

Activity Execution and Emergency Response

• Participate and execute HSES activity plans.
• Assist and participate in emergency response drills, including preparation of reports and inspection of equipment.
• Participate in incident investigations and prepare reports as necessary.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree or Diploma in an HSES-related subject or equivalent.
• Five years of Oil and Gas HSES experience.
• Conversant with local and international HSES laws, codes, and regulations.
• Familiar with company, facility, and project-specific HSES terms, requirements, and deliverables.
