Role Overview
Head of Year (EYFS) at Mamoura British Academy, part of Aldar Education. This role commences January 2027 and is based in Abu Dhabi. The position combines class teaching responsibility with leadership of the Early Years Foundation Stage year group.

Role Purpose
To lead the EYFS year group while delivering high-quality, innovative teaching across the Primary English National Curriculum. The role combines classroom teaching with responsibility for team management, pastoral care, strategic direction, and quality assurance of learning opportunities for all students in the year group.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management
- Contribute to the whole school vision and strategic direction of the school.
- Lead team and planning meetings to ensure the team is well informed, organised and successful.
- Effectively line manage a team of teachers and teaching assistants to ensure they are performing successfully against the UAE Professional Teacher Standards.
- Actively participate in the school's bespoke Middle Leader training programme.
- Contribute to the school's Professional Development cycle, helping to upskill and share good practice amongst fellow teachers.
Learning and Curriculum
- Teach all areas of the Primary English National Curriculum.
- Ensure that learning opportunities for children are innovative, purposeful and challenging across all curriculum areas.
- Organize the classroom, learning resources and create displays to encourage a positive learning environment and support the development of the Mamoura British Academy unique selling point.
- Plan, prepare and present lessons that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within the class.
- Provide support and interventions for students with EAL or who have additional learning needs.
- Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation.
- Demonstrate effective use of technology through innovative and creative lesson delivery and continuous provision.
- Meet with other professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and educational psychologists if required.
- Ensure that the Mamoura British Academy Teacher and Learner DNA language and attributes are embedded throughout the curriculum.
- Contribute to the development of teaching and learning across the school by sharing best practice and participating in school CPD and teaching and learning initiatives.
- Be reflective of lessons taught and student progress, and adjust planning, curriculum and continuous provision to reflect this.
Assessment and Progress
- Take responsibility for the attainment and progress of a class of children to ensure they reach above expected expectations.
- Meet the requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils' development using Learning Ladders.
- Use data provided by assessments to influence further planning and interventions.
- Provide regular feedback to parents and carers on a student's progress at Parent Teacher Conferences and other meetings.
- Plan, prepare and contribute to termly Pupil Progress meetings.
- Evidence children's work and learning in line with the Mamoura British Academy Marking and Feedback policy.
Quality Assurance and Monitoring
- Contribute to the school's Monitoring, Evaluating and Reporting processes and quality assure all aspects of provision within the year group to ensure consistently high standards and expectations.
Pastoral Care and Behaviour Management
- Promote the pastoral care and well-being of children within the year group by ensuring all systems and procedures are followed.
- Follow the Mamoura British Academy behaviour management policy and promote the TRACK Values to set high expectations.
- Manage classes effectively using approaches appropriate to pupils' needs in order to inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
- Maintain good relationships with pupils and parents and follow the school's procedures to manage and challenge any rare occurrences of unwanted behaviour.
- Be a positive role model and demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviour expected of pupils.
- Carry out playground and other duties in a punctual, interactive and proactive manner.
- Ensure that any concerns relating to behaviour and Safeguarding are accurately followed up on and logged on CPOMS.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor degree in Education, or Bachelor degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in the English National Curriculum.
- Leadership experience desirable.
- Experience of working in more than one International School desirable.
