Role Purpose

To lead and develop the school's inclusion and special education provision, supporting students with varying learning needs and developmental delays. The role ensures high standards of educational achievement across the school through strategic implementation of inclusion initiatives, effective team leadership, and close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Development

• Encourage and promote inclusion across the school at all levels.
• Implement strategic initiatives and demonstrate impact within the school.
• Lead a special education or inclusion team with demonstrated expertise.

Teaching & Professional Practice

• Be an exemplary classroom teacher, supporting and guiding staff on SEN and inclusion to promote high standards of educational achievement.
• Deliver a range of specific intervention programmes and be confident in the measures needed to prove effectiveness.

Assessment & Planning

• Participate in the admissions, evaluations, assessments and subsequent transitions of students with special educational needs.
• Maintain accurate records, Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and coordinate care plans.
• Maintain SEN registers and rigorous data of progress, attainment and provisions.
• Experience in maintaining accurate and meaningful SEN registers and developing high quality IEPs and intervention plans.
• Complete assessments and applications for access arrangements.
• Prepare documentation for submission to ADEK or other educational bodies.
• Administer standardized assessments to inform provision.
• Utilize data to monitor and track students' progress and attainment.
• Identify a range of need types and/or development delays.

Team Management & Development

• Line manage staff employed to support children with special needs.
• Provide full induction and training for the school Inclusion team and Inclusion assistants.

Stakeholder Engagement & Compliance

• Liaise closely with colleagues from other schools, outside agencies and other professionals.
• Support the aims of the school; comply with the requirements of health and safety, other relevant legislation and school policies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Qualified teacher.
• SEN Qualification at Master's level or external certification on an aspect of SEN.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in the field of SEN.
• Previous experience in leading SEN / Learning Support in a primary or secondary school.

• Development of high quality Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and intervention plans.
• Identification of a range of need types and developmental delays.
