Head Bartender

Role Overview

Head Bartender at Wasl Hospitality & Leisure (Viya), based at Topgolf Dubai. Reports to the Hospitality Manager or Assistant Hospitality Manager within the Food & Beverage Service department.

Role Purpose

Head Bartenders deliver best-in-class hospitality and service to guests with expert technical knowledge of spirits, beer, and wine. The role combines mastery of drink preparation and bar operations with the ability to engage guests, create memorable experiences, and drive food and beverage sales through personalized recommendations and genuine hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Engagement & Service

• Greet every guest immediately in a friendly and approachable manner.
• Engage with guests and ensure they are well cared for at all times.
• Project positivity throughout all guest interactions.
• Suggest premium menu items to enhance the guest's experience and maximize sales.
• Introduce guests to new and exciting food and beverage options.
• Apply the 4 Service Targets and 4 Service Steps throughout serving internal and external customers.

Beverage Preparation & Service

• Take pride in preparing and serving drinks according to Topgolf recipes and standards.
• Prepare and serve drinks promptly.
• Offer food and beverages from the bar.
• Wash, polish and store all glassware appropriately, minimizing the risk of breakage.

Bar Operations & Maintenance

• Set up and maintain all beverage service areas, bars, non-alcoholic beverage stations, and food and beverage storage areas.
• Ensure the bar remains stocked, organized and sanitary.
• Perform ordering, inventory and control of beverage product and supplies.
• Maintain accurate spill logs throughout shift to properly manage waste.
• Ensure that all breakages and wastages are recorded in writing.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure health and safety procedures are followed to prevent accidents or injury in the venue.
• Maintain good food hygiene practices at all times.
• Protect guests and community by observing the rules of responsible alcohol service.
• Adhere to service standards: timeliness, quality, accuracy, sanitation.
• Read, understand and comply with all applicable Information Security Policies and Procedures of wasl DG.
• Immediately report all Information Security breaches, events, weaknesses, and suspected incidents to the IT Service Desk.
• Cooperate, coordinate and share information with Internal and External Audit teams as appropriate and applicable.
• Attend Information Security Awareness sessions conducted by the wasl IT Department.

Cash & Payment Handling

• Be careful and efficient in handling cash and credit cards.

Additional Information

Ancillary Duties

• Participate in various extra activities contributing towards individual and organizational growth in line with the club's commitment to continuous improvement.
• Represent the department or a group in various committees, such as the Staff Committee, Green Theme (environmental), Food Committee, or Sport Committee or projects.
• May be trained as a Fire Marshall or First Aider.
