Role Purpose
To work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent to ensure the maintenance, operation, and management of the golf course and club properties while supervising construction, equipment maintenance, and training of the maintenance crew.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Operations
- Supervise construction and maintenance of the golf course and club property.
- Direct and supervise a staff of employees for the purpose of maintaining the properties.
- Oversee the scheduling and routing of personnel and equipment to accomplish the work.
Course & Property Management
- Assist in maintaining golf courses and club properties.
- Maintain and repair department equipment.
- Maintain clubhouse grounds and landscaping.
- Manage other properties as specified by management.
- Inspect the golf course and related areas to evaluate how well management standards are being achieved.
Planning & Development
- Assist in planning all maintenance and project work, applying agronomic and administrative expertise to achieve organizational standards and goals.
- Assist in construction, renovation, and/or reconstruction of properties, whether performed by maintenance staff or outside contractors.
- Coordinate with the Golf Course Superintendent to develop management programs.
Training & Staff Development
- Train and develop Maintenance Crew staff.
Administration & Records
- Assist in inventory control and oversee equipment maintenance programs.
- Keep accurate and complete records on maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, and related documentation.
- Exercise cost control measures to keep operating and capital expenses in line with approved budgets.
Quality & Stakeholder Management
- Apply the 4 Service Steps throughout serving internal and external customers.
- Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent in all aspects of the operation to ensure organizational goals are achieved.
- Represent the department or group in various committees, such as the Staff Committee, Green Team (environmental), Food Committee, or Sport Committee, or projects.
Additional Duties
- Participate in various extra activities contributing towards individual and organizational growth.
- Be trained as a Fire Marshall or First Aider as needed.
IT Security & Compliance
- Read, understand, and comply with all applicable Information Security Policies and Procedures of wasl.
- Cooperate, coordinate, and share information with Internal/External Audit teams as appropriate and applicable.
- Attend Information Security Awareness sessions conducted by the wasl IT Department.
- Immediately report all Information Security breaches, events, weaknesses, and incidents (actual or suspected) to the IT Service Desk.
Qualifications & Experience
- 2β5 years' experience at a reputed golf course.
- Advanced knowledge of agronomy and golf course maintenance.
- Tournament preparation experience.
- Knowledge of agronomy and turf grass management practices.
- Working knowledge of golf facility construction principles, practices, and methods.
- Thorough understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf.
Skills & Competencies

- Good administrative skills.
- Computer literate with excellent communication skills in English (both written and oral).
- Sound technical knowledge in all aspects of a golf course.

Additional Information
- Reports to the Golf Course Superintendent.
- Responsible for the Course Foreman and Maintenance Crew.
- Department: Golf Course Maintenance.
- Expected to become familiar with current local regulations affecting the management of golf course operations, including employment, safety, and environmental standards, laws, and regulations.
- Required to participate in continuing education opportunities such as seminars, workshops, correspondence courses, field days, and trade shows.
