Geologist

Role Overview

Geologist at Ma'aden. The role involves geological mapping, sampling, data analysis, and grade control support across mining operations.

Role Purpose

Provide geological expertise to support safe, compliant, and optimized mining operations through data collection, analysis, reporting, and collaboration with engineering and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

Geological Mapping & Sampling

• Conduct geological and structural mapping of the mine.
• Perform geological sampling across the operation.
• Assist in the collection and analysis of geological data.
• Interpret gathered data, logs, and samples from borehole drill cores using accepted geological techniques.

Grade Control

• Assist the Senior Mine Geologist with grade control prediction and daily mine operation reporting.
• Assist the mine geologist with RC grade control drilling planning.
• Manage the daily RCGC site and ensure sample quality is in place.
• Perform RCGC logging, follow up with the lab for sample dispatch, and validate the database.
• Perform ore markups.

Site Operations & Supervision

• Manage the sampler and spotter on site, collect data, and write reports at the end of each shift.
• Supervise ROMPAD to ensure the bleeding plan is executed.
• Monitor, evaluate, and report the performance of direct reports.

Reporting & Analysis

• Maintain accurate records of geological findings and prepare reports.
• Collect weekly geology reports and compile them into one consolidated report.
• Compile monthly operations data.
• Support model-mine-mill reconciliation and use results to drive improvements in Resource Models.

Data & Systems

• Use geological software to analyze and interpret data.
• Monitor, evaluate, and apply current industry technical and operational best practices in geosciences.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Participate in safety training and promote a safe working environment.
• Maintain knowledge of mine safety regulations and industry best practices.

Collaboration & Support

• Collaborate with mining engineers and other professionals on site.
• Organize processes of geological support for all mines.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Geology.
• Two to three years' experience in open pit or underground mining operations.
