Company Overview

Wood PLC operates a joint venture with Al Majal, a long-term Iraq partner. The joint venture, named Wood Al Majal, combines the strengths of both partners to tender, secure, and deliver Maintenance, Completions/Commissioning Contracts and Brownfield Modifications Execution Projects within Iraq's Oil & Gas Sector.

Role Purpose

Lead and manage the Wood Al Majal joint venture business in accordance with the Business Plan and Budget under the direction of the Managing Committee. Deploy procedures and processes to target opportunities, secure contracts, and successfully deliver projects while structuring the company to meet targets set by the Wood Al Majal Managing Committee and Board.

Key Responsibilities

Business Planning & Financial Management

• Own Business Plan and Budget responsibility with accountability for P&L target delivery.
• Provide input to annual budgets and structure the company to deliver against agreed targets.
• Monitor effectiveness of business execution and counsel others to take corrective actions as needed.

Business Development & Tendering

• Lead all proposals to ensure correct technical and commercial models are applied for competitiveness and successful delivery at or above tendered position.
• Establish Key Opportunities Strategy and target agreed market and clients.
• Execute Business Development activities within Iraq.
• Partner with other leaders to develop relationship management strategies for key external contacts.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

• Meet, engage, and build trusting relationships with Government agencies, BOC, SGC, Basra Governor, BCRO, MOO, MOI and similar entities.
• Represent the organization externally at the highest levels with customers, in the community and with contractors.
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders including suppliers and subcontractors.
• Interface and coordinate with both Wood and Al Majal Operational and/or Contract Management to ensure delivery of operational and commercial goals.

Governance & Compliance

• Manage and execute all legal and statutory requirements as defined in the Joint Venture Agreement and stipulated by Iraq Government.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws as well as Wood HSSE, Quality and Ethics & Compliance policies.
• Ensure correct level of governance is applied across all projects executed by Wood Al Majal.
• Arrange and manage Monthly Managing Committee and Biannual General Assembly Meetings in accordance with requirements defined in the Joint Venture Agreement and execute actions arising from meetings.
• Resolve complex issues and escalate unresolved issues to the Managing Committee for support and guidance.

Operations & Project Delivery

• Recruit in-country based Function Leads and Delivery Leads to manage daily activities and execute projects.
• Manage the execution model for contracts by drawing on support from Wood for services such as engineering and specialist consultancy services and from Al Majal for workshops, logistics and specialist equipment supply in accordance with Joint Venture Agreement.
• Grow Fabrication, training and project execution capabilities.

Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Leadership

• Lead HSSE across all Wood Al Majal activities with an uncompromising approach to risk management.
• Establish and oversee a program of initiatives and auditing schedules to ensure HSSE and quality management issues are proactively addressed.
• Place the welfare of both internal and customer employees at the top of the agenda.
• Drive good practices including corporate initiatives.

Team Leadership

• Guide and direct the team to achieve goals.
• Teach and empower others to make decisions within established parameters.
• Guide and direct diverse team which may include specialists from outside the company and from other countries.

Qualifications & Experience

• University degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in relevant discipline or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
• Typically requires more than 15 years of broad and extensive pertinent experience.
• Essential: Experience in delivering Operations and Maintenance Contracts in complex brownfield environments.
• Beneficial but not essential: Experience in delivering Construction and Commissioning Contracts.
• Essential: Experience in Business Development and Proposals/Tendering Process.
• Preferred but not essential: Iraq experience.

Additional Information

• Full-time position.
• Based in Dubai, UAE.
• Minimum 50% of time in Iraq and 50% in UAE to work with Managing Committee and Function Leads within Wood and joint venture partner.
• Requires limited guidance; work is assessed in relation to objectives and outcomes.
