Fuels Systems Technician

Role Overview

Fuels Systems Technician position with Amentum performing inspection, maintenance, and repair of water and fuels systems at military installations and fuel distribution locations.

Role Purpose

Provide preventive and corrective maintenance support for automated fuel handling equipment, tank gauging systems, alarm systems, leak detection equipment, and associated communication devices to ensure safe and reliable fuel system operations.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repair Operations

• Perform inspection, maintenance, and repair for water and fuels systems including Cross-Connection Control.
• Execute Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) support for Automated Fuel Handling Equipment (AFHE), Automated Tank Gauging (ATG), Independent Alarm Systems (IAS), Electronic Leak Detection (ELD), Overfill Protection Equipment (OPE), Hydrant Fueling Automation Maintenance (HFAM), and Automated Fuel Service Station (AFSS) fuel systems.
• Maintain and service associated communication devices including modems and radios.
• Provide annual pipeline leak detection certification and quarterly and periodic leak detection testing and technical support for installed Hansa and Vista leak detection systems.
• Deliver Leak Manager Support via installed Fuels Manager Defense (FMD) systems to provide certification and technical support for Varec Leak Manager.

Technical Expertise

• Oversee hydrant system professionals during replacement, repair, diagnostics, or adjustment of individual components of the Hydrant Fueling System automation.
• Understand and translate DoD hydrant system specifications in both verbal and written form.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot Veeder Root TLS Series ATG System (Level 3 Veeder-Root certified), ENRAF 854 Servo ATG System, Scully Dynamic Self Check, and Ronan Continuous Monitoring Systems.
• Support AFSS systems installed at retail and bulk fuel distribution locations that track fuel transactions and maintenance services for military ground vehicles.

Safety & Compliance

• Maintain responsibility for continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment.
• Complete all required training and fulfill self-aid and buddy aid responsibilities.
• Participate in emergency response tasks and serve on safety committees and teams as appropriate.
• Read, understand, and implement all general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all applicable plans, procedures, and policies.
• Conform to Amentum Quality Policy and carry out job activities in compliance with applicable Amentum Quality System documents and customer contracts.
• Read and understand Quality Management and Customer Satisfaction responsibilities.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum three (3) years' experience in fuels systems.
• ATG Systems technicians must have three (3) years' experience and be knowledgeable and (as required) certified within 30 calendar days of CTORD.
• IAS Technician must have three (3) years' experience, be knowledgeable, and (as required) certified.
• ELD Technician must have three (3) years' experience, be knowledgeable, and (as required) certified.
• HFAM Technician must have three (3) years' experience in hydrant system automation including Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), various operator interfaces, system parameter transmitters, flow switches, solenoids, motor operators, control valves, other control devices, and associated software.
• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Military and/or technical training in fuel and/or water systems.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Clearance; US Citizenship is required.

Skills & Competencies

• Manufacturer qualification and certification on ATG, ELD, IAS, OPE, HFAM, and/or AFSS equipment when manufacturer qualification or certification exists.
• Certifications on one or more of the following systems: Automated Fuel Handling Equipment (AFHE), Automated Fuel Service Station (AFSS), ATG (Automated Tank Gauging) Systems, Independent Alarm Systems (IAS), Electronic Leak Detection (ELD), Hydrant Fueling Automation Maintenance (HFAM), or Overfill Protection Equipment (OPE).
• Level 3 Veeder-Root certification for Veeder Root TLS Series ATG System.
• Knowledge of ENRAF 854 Servo ATG System, Scully Dynamic Self Check, and Ronan Continuous Monitoring Systems.
• Cross-Connection Control training (required for all personnel).
• Capable of working as experienced Engineer, Subject Matter Expert, and Computer Operator on AFHE equipment.
• Ability to understand and translate DoD specifications in both verbal and written form.

Additional Information

• Work environment: maintenance shop setting.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
• Contractor must provide documentation to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) to support personnel qualification and certification when requested.
• All personnel must have had Cross-Connection Control training.
