Role Purpose

Under the supervision of the Emergency Services Director, this position is responsible for Fire Station daily operations to ensure personnel are well-trained and capable to perform their duties effectively and on short notice. The Fire Chief selects and guides firefighters, maintains continuous assessment of readiness and performance, and ensures compliance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Department of Defense regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Personnel Management

• Manage Fire Station daily operations to ensure personnel are well-trained and capable to perform their duties effectively and on short notice.
• Select and guide firefighters to perform as expected when called upon.
• Continually assess firefighter readiness and performance.

Fire Safety & Compliance

• Maintain daily awareness of fire inspections, fire services, inspection and testing of fire protection and alarm systems, firefighter training, and fire drills.
• Complete the requirements in the PWS and in accordance with Department of Defense regulations.
• Comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.

Reporting & Documentation

• Submit all fire and rescue incident data using Fire Incident Reporting System (FIRS) software.
• Enable automatic reporting, posting information on the website to allow 24/7 Government oversight.
• Assist in controlling and scheduling all fire safety inspections.
• Post fire detection and alarm system operational status, fire discrepancy reports, and daily manning summaries.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in related field (such as Fire Management). One year of related experience may be substituted for one year of education if degree is required. Must provide a copy of diploma or college transcripts.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Fire Chief or Deputy Fire Chief.
• Experience with the Army Emergency Management Program (DA PAM 525-27).
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Kuwait Heavy Duty Driver's License.

Skills & Competencies

• In-depth knowledge of Department of Defense Fire and Emergency Services Certification Program (DODI 6055.06-M) or industrial/municipal equivalent.

Additional Information

Working Conditions

• Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions, including hot, dry, dusty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months.
• Includes some industrial production environment conditions.

Physical Requirements

• Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
• Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
