Role Overview
Field Service Engineer at ACWA Power. The role supports end-to-end outage management for assigned plants, delivering cost-effective, high-quality services to improve long-term asset reliability, optimize resources, and ensure client satisfaction.
Role Purpose
To support and assist the end-to-end outage management for the assigned plant, with an aim to provide cost effective and high-quality services to improve long term asset reliability, whilst ensuring overall cost efficiencies, optimization of resources and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Outage Planning
- Assist the Project Manager in planning outage management strategy, scope of work, resources needed, local manpower requirements, spare part requirements, and QA plan up to 18 months in advance to ensure thorough and robust planning.
- Conduct pre-outage studies by understanding and analyzing technical equipment details including equipment history, OEM recommendations, layout, interconnections, root cause of failure, and operating conditions to ensure accurate planning and execution.
Execution
- Monitor daily progress against plan and manage key stakeholders and service providers to ensure work is completed according to work control procedures, HSSE, and quality standards.
- Arrange issuance of spare parts, consumables, tools, work authorizations, and necessary permits to ensure all required regulatory and safety permits are issued prior to execution start.
- Update the schedule daily based on progress, plant condition, and adjustments from work units and contractors to ensure timely completion.
- Attend daily outage coordination meetings with stakeholders to ensure robust planning and execution and timely escalation and resolution of issues.
- Develop daily and weekly management reports highlighting performance against objectives to ensure management and stakeholders are informed of outage execution and escalated issues are resolved timely and effectively.
- Arrange quality control inspections according to quality plan and equipment acceptance to ensure inspections are carried out as required.
- Assist and ensure final calibration and checking by Maintenance, Operation, and Technical teams to ensure client satisfaction and final acceptance per authority matrix.
Post-Execution Reporting
- Develop final outage report including outage preparation process, execution, job statistics, scope of work, comparison of planned versus achieved outage goals and critical milestones, major problems encountered, corrective actions taken, good practices, and lessons learned to enable continuous improvement.
Technical Expertise
- Act as centre of expertise for critical equipment types such as Gas Turbines and Steam Turbines, sharing technical know-how with the team, providing technical insights and best practices, and conducting technical discussions with vendors and clients to leverage knowledge for organizational benefit.
- Keep abreast of latest technological innovations, new equipment design and functionality, and leading practices in the field and evaluate their relevance and usage from organizational perspective.
Governance & Compliance
- Adhere to all relevant organizational and departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure work is carried out to required standard in consistent manner.
- Adhere to all relevant health, safety, security, and environmental procedures, instructions, and controls to guarantee employee safety and environmental compliance.
- Perform any other duties the organization may require.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in Operations and Maintenance of large Power Plants.
- Engineering or Outage Execution experience with OEM is a plus.
- Experience managing at least one outage of Steam or Gas Turbines.

Additional Information
- Partner closely with GM β Field Services, Project Manager, Planning Manager, Maintenance teams at plants, Performance Assurance Team, and Supply Chain team.
