Role Overview
Field Service Engineer I at ACWA Power. This role supports end-to-end outage management for assigned power plants, delivering cost-effective, high-quality services to improve long-term asset reliability while ensuring cost efficiencies, resource optimization, and client satisfaction.
Role Purpose
To support and assist the end-to-end outage management for the assigned plant, with an aim to provide cost effective and high-quality services to improve long term asset reliability, whilst ensuring overall cost efficiencies, optimization of resources and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Outage Planning
- Assist the Project Manager in planning outage management strategy, scope of work, resources needed, local manpower requirements, spare part requirements, and QA plan for assigned projects up to 18 months in advance to ensure thorough and robust planning.
- Assist in conducting pre-outage studies by understanding and analyzing technical details of equipment, including equipment history, OEM recommendations, layout, interconnections with other equipment, root cause of failure, and operating conditions to ensure accurate planning and execution.
Execution
- Assist in end-to-end execution of the outage by monitoring daily progress against the plan and managing key stakeholders and service providers to ensure work is completed as per work control procedures, HSSE, and quality standards.
- Arrange issuance of spare parts, consumables, tools, work authorizations, and necessary permits to ensure all required regulatory and safety permits are issued prior to execution start.
- Update the schedule daily based on progress, plant condition, and adjustments required by different work units and contractors to ensure timely completion as per plan.
- Attend daily outage coordination meetings with stakeholders to ensure robust planning and execution and timely escalation and resolution of issues.
- Arrange quality control inspections according to the quality plan and acceptance of equipment to ensure inspections are carried out as per requirements.
- Assist and ensure final calibration and checking by Maintenance, Operation, and Technical teams to ensure client satisfaction and final acceptance as per the authority matrix.
Post-Execution Reporting
- Develop the final outage report including the entire process of outage preparation, execution, jobs statistics, scope of work, comparison of planned versus achieved outage goals and critical milestones, major problems encountered, corrective actions taken, good practices, and lessons learned to ensure it is used as a means for continuous improvement.
- Develop daily and weekly management reports highlighting performance against objectives to ensure management and stakeholders are aware of outage execution and escalated issues are resolved in a timely and effective manner.
Technical Expertise
- Act as a centre of expertise for a particular type of critical equipment (Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, etc.), sharing technical know-how with the team and providing technical insights and best practices.
- Conduct technical discussions with vendors and clients to ensure their knowledge is leveraged for the best interest of the organisation.
- Keep abreast of the latest technological innovations, new equipment design and functionality, and leading practices in the field and evaluate their relevance and usage from the organization's perspective.
Compliance & Leadership
- Adhere to all relevant organisational and departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so work is carried out to required standard and in a consistent manner.
- Adhere to all relevant health, safety, security, and environmental procedures, instructions, and controls to guarantee safety of employees and environmental compliance.
- Perform any other duties the organization may require.
- Work at site daily from a leadership level and lead by example.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in Operations and Maintenance of large Power Plants.
- Engineering or Outage Execution experience with OEM is a plus.
- Experience managing at least one outage of Steam or Gas Turbines.

Working Relationships
- Internal: Works closely with GM β Field Services, Project Manager, Planning Manager, Maintenance team at plants, Performance Assurance Team, and Supply Chain team.
