Field Operator

Role Overview

Field Operator at ACWA Power. The role involves monitoring plant operating parameters locally, coordinating with the Control Center Room (CCR) Operator on all activities affecting plant operations, and managing the safe start-up and shutdown of the plant in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.

Role Purpose

Monitor plant operating parameters, inspect assigned areas and equipment, coordinate operational activities with the CCR Operator and Shift Supervisor, and ensure safe, compliant plant operations in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Monitoring

• Monitor operating parameters and record periodic readings on log sheets.
• Summarize all activities and events occurring during the shift in the logbook.
• Inspect assigned areas and auxiliary equipment during the shift to ensure all equipment parameters remain within acceptable limits.
• Report abnormalities to the CCR Operator.
• Perform equipment changeovers according to established schedules.
• Coordinate with the CCR Operator and Shift Supervisor for equipment and system isolation and line-up before and after maintenance activities.

Safety & Compliance

• Comply with safety rules and regulations and be familiar with firefighting equipment in the assigned area.
• Follow the instructions of the Shift Supervisor, Shift Charge Engineer, and CCR Operator.
• Be familiar with plant P&IDs, Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions, basic control logic, emergency operating procedures, and other related documents.
• Follow approved Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions.
• Report near misses and implement prescribed risk controls.
• Report deviations related to the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Management System.

Maintenance & Housekeeping

• Raise work requests or defect notifications for faulty equipment.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the work area and ensure proper clean-up following maintenance work.
• Ensure proper waste disposal measures are followed.

Training & Support

• Assist in the training and familiarization of new operators.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Diploma required.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 4 years of experience in Power and/or Desalination Plant operations.
• Experience in the Middle East preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• General awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety, and Environmental Management System principles.
• Knowledge of waste identification, classification, and disposal.
• Knowledge of emission monitoring.
• Knowledge of the environmental and health impacts of chemicals used in the plant.
• Knowledge of firefighting equipment.
• Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety equipment.
• Knowledge of first-aid measures.
• Good knowledge of Power and Water Plant operational activities.
• Good communication skills.

Additional Information

• ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 awareness or working knowledge preferred.
• Ready to work in a remote location.
