Role Overview

Field Engineer - NextGen Graduate Program at Weatherford UAE, based in Qatar. This is an entry-level position for recent engineering graduates launching their careers in oil and gas field operations.

Role Purpose

To serve as the essential connection between Weatherford's cutting-edge technologies and real-world challenges on oil and gas rigs, gaining hands-on experience and responsibility from day one while developing technical expertise through a structured 4-year development program.

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations & Equipment Management

• Prepare, deploy, and operate advanced downhole tools to meet specific wellsite objectives.
• Manage equipment logistics and ensure seamless setup and operation at the rig site.
• Deliver front-line engineering support to customers throughout operations, resolving issues independently.

Technical Analysis & Optimization

• Utilize cutting-edge simulation software to design and optimize wellsite solutions tailored to client needs.
• Analyse performance data and recommend improvements.
• Analyse complex problems, apply critical thinking, and make informed decisions.

Reporting & Client Communication

• Create detailed post-job reports and share actionable insights with clients and internal teams.
• Champion a culture of continuous improvement with a strong focus on safety, quality, and performance.

Leadership Development (Years 3–4)

• Lead teams at the wellsite.
• Serve as the main contact for clients.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (all fields) obtained within the last 24 months.
• No more than 1 year of work experience.

Skills & Competencies

• English language fluent proficiency in written and spoken communication.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyse complex problems and apply critical thinking.
• Passion for hands-on work and learning in dynamic environments, both onshore and offshore.

Additional Information

Development Program

Enrolled in a 4-year Field Engineer Technical Development Program blending classroom learning with real-world experience:

• Year 1: Work with guidance and participate in hands-on training at one of Weatherford's global centers; travel may be required to gain real-world experience.
• Year 2: Take on increased responsibility at the wellsite while continuing technical skill development through hands-on and classroom training.
• Years 3 & 4: Expand knowledge and skills; may lead teams at the wellsite and serve as the primary client contact.

Work Environment & Conditions

• 12-hour shifts, day or night.
• Work in tough weather conditions.
• Extended periods away from home, including weekends and holidays.
• Physically and mentally demanding role.
• Potential deployment to specialized product lines including Completions, Drilling Services, Wireline Services, Artificial Lift, Well Services, and Managed Pressure Drilling.
