Role Overview

Estimator at Al Tayer Group. The role assists in preparing realistic and competitive cost estimates for labour and materials to enable senior management to evaluate economic viability and make tender participation decisions.

Role Purpose

To procure, vet, and compile accurate labour and material costs, prepare bills of quantities and estimates, and support the Estimating Manager in delivering professional, cost-effective estimating processes that inform project bidding and execution decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Estimation & Cost Analysis

• Procure labour costs and material costs from within the company and external sources.
• Vet price quotations to arrive at competitive labour and material costs for submission to management.
• Prepare estimates for the QS to obtain client and consultant approval for variations in labour and material costs arising from drawing changes.
• Prepare bills of quantities from drawings, price them, and submit to the Estimating Manager for approval.
• Finalize tenders using the CCS system.

Project Costing & Documentation

• Prepare upon project award a summary including cost of labour, material, quantity and quality of materials required, strictly as per client specification to ensure compliance with prescribed parameters.
• Assist the Chief Estimator in drafting a final report on pre and post completion costs to enable management to assess job profitability.

Process & Coordination

• Assist the Estimating Manager in implementing strategies and plans to ensure the estimating process takes place in the most professional and cost-effective manner.
• Coordinate with the Quantity Surveying department throughout the estimating process.

Qualifications & Experience

• Higher Diploma in QS.
• 2–3 years of experience in a large construction or interior fit-out company.
