Role Overview

Engineer, Electrical Design at Alfanar Building Systems. This role leads and manages the design and development of electrical systems and components for various projects, ensuring functionality, safety, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

To lead and manage the design and development of electrical systems and components for various projects, ensuring functionality, safety, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Development

• Design electrical systems and components using CAD software such as AutoCAD and REVIT, and specialized design tools.
• Develop detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Design and engineer electrical systems for buildings, industrial facilities, or infrastructure projects, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security and control systems.
• Create accurate and detailed drawings, including schematics, circuit diagrams, and wiring diagrams using software such as AutoCAD, REVIT, ETAP and other specialized design tools.
• Create detailed electrical drawings, plans, and diagrams using computer-aided design (CAD and REVIT) software.
• Accurately represent the layout of electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, outlets, switches, and other components.

Load Calculations and Analysis

• Conduct load calculations and electrical system analysis to ensure proper sizing and performance of electrical equipment and systems.
• Consider factors such as voltage drop, short-circuit currents, and fault protection.

Component Selection and Specification

• Research, evaluate, and select electrical components, equipment, and materials based on project requirements, performance criteria, and cost considerations.

Compliance and Regulation

• Ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes, standards, and regulations, such as the National Electrical Code (NEC), International Building Code (IBC), and local building and safety code (SBC).
• Ensure that electrical designs comply with relevant industry standards, building codes, safety regulations, and certification requirements.
• Ensure that electrical drawings comply with relevant safety regulations and building codes.
• Review technical specifications and design documents to understand project requirements and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.

Quality Control and Accuracy

• Review and verify the accuracy of electrical drawings to ensure they meet project requirements and adhere to quality standards.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews of designs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
• Check drawings for accuracy and completeness, including dimensions, labels, and symbols.
• Identify and correct errors or discrepancies in drawings to maintain quality standards.
• Revise and update electrical drawings as needed to reflect changes in design and specifications.

Collaboration and Communication

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, contractors, and clients, to coordinate electrical design activities.
• Effectively communicate with internal teams and external vendors to convey technical information and address any concerns related to electrical drawings.
• Provide technical expertise and support to clients, contractors, and internal teams throughout the design, implementation, and maintenance phases of projects.

Problem-Solving and Technical Support

• Identify and resolve technical issues or discrepancies in electrical designs, working closely with the engineering team as needed.

Project Coordination

• Assist in project coordination by providing timely updates on the status of electrical drawings and collaborating with other team members to meet project deadlines.

Documentation and Reporting

• Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and engineering drawings to communicate design specifications, procedures, and findings.
• Organize and maintain a library of electrical drawings, documents, and related project files.

Continuous Improvement

• Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies in electrical design.
• Seek opportunities to improve design processes, efficiency, and effectiveness.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5 to 10 years of work experience.
