Engineer

Role Overview

Engineer at Emirates Flight Catering. The role is based on-site within a catering or facilities environment.

Role Purpose

Oversee the safe, efficient and compliant operation of engineering systems, equipment and staff within a catering or facilities setting. Ensure adherence to safety legislation, quality standards and company policy while managing preventative maintenance, breakdowns and junior technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to all safe working practices in accordance with safety legislation.
• Ensure operational safety of all employees, equipment and assets at all times.
• Ensure adherence to all quality systems and policy in accordance with ISO 9001:2001 international standards and Company Policy.
• Ensure quality standards are met by all employees at all times.

Operations & Maintenance

• Ensure timely response to breakdowns occurring under your remit.
• Ensure correct diagnosis and analysis of faults under your remit.
• Troubleshoot machine breakdowns when juniors are unable to identify the problem.
• Monitor preventative maintenance programs.
• Monitor and measure equipment performance to ensure optimum output at all times.
• Help carry out repairs ensuring cost effective, timely resolutions in accordance with department requirements and guidelines.

Resource Planning & Supply

• Facilitate provision of all necessary tools, equipment and spare parts for job requirements.
• Plan stock requirements ahead of time to ensure minimum downtime of equipment.

Team Management

• Oversee supervision of all junior engineering and technical staff.
• Anticipate workforce shortages and report to line manager for timely adjustments of duty rosters in accordance with budgets and business requirements.
• Act as a role model within the department by adopting a positive attitude at all times.

Communication & Process Improvement

• Actively participate in departmental briefing sessions to support the communication process within the department.
• Maintain excellent communication platforms with peers and colleagues at all times.
• Propose and implement improvements to work procedures.

Documentation & Reporting

• Oversee maintenance of statistical, legal and financial records in accordance with Company requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• An engineering degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering from a recognised body.
• 6 years of relevant experience in either a Catering, Facilities or Project Management environment.
• Sound knowledge and experience in Engineering Legislation.
• Strong exposure to Quality standards and Safety system practices.
• Experience in managing and developing a team.
