Job description

Role Overview

Engineer, Business Planning at ADNOC. This role is based in Abu Dhabi and involves planning, monitoring, and coordinating maintenance and shutdown activities across the organization.

Role Purpose

Prepare overall maintenance and shutdown plans and monitor execution tools to ensure smooth delivery of maintenance schemes, shutdowns, and activities by providing comprehensive support to stakeholders and individuals.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Coordination

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders (Integrity, Production, Projects, Maintenance Support) to prepare shutdown plans, short and long-term work programs for major schemes, major maintenance, individual projects, and action plans aligned with Company Business Plan.
  • Produce, develop, and update the Seven-Year Integrated Activity Plan including engineering and maintenance schemes, barge and boat plan, WHT campaign, major inspections and overhauls, and shutdowns plan.
  • Develop and maintain plans for maintenance barges.
  • Develop worklist for WHT Major Maintenance and develop execution schedule for maintenance campaign.
  • Develop and update the bedding plan in view of each scheme's schedule by coordinating with each job officer.

Monitoring & Control

  • Monitor deviations from work programs and report to team leaders the possible impact on other programs.
  • Recommend corrective actions to address deviations.
  • Liaise with planning and cost coordination units to ensure monitoring of work programs in terms of duration, target dates, resources, and materials.
  • Liaise with Commercial Division personnel to ensure required materials are identified properly.

Budget Management

  • Prepare and monitor major maintenance budget and relevant phasing.
  • Provide input for preparation of Section and Department budgets.
  • Assist in implementation of approved budgets and work plans to deliver Section objectives.
  • Investigate and highlight significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.

Supervision & Development

  • Plan, supervise, and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
  • Train and develop assigned staff on relevant skills to enable proficiency and deliver section objectives.

Governance & Standards

  • Implement approved Section and Department policies, processes, systems, standards, and procedures to support execution of work programs in line with Company and International standards.
  • Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, and controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices, and ADNOC Code of Practices.

Performance & Improvement

  • Contribute to achievement of approved Performance Objectives for Section and Department in line with Company Performance framework.
  • Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve quality and efficiency of operational processes.
  • Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.

Reporting

  • Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from a recognised university.
  • 5–6 years' experience in multi-discipline planning of Engineering and Maintenance activities in an oil and gas or petrochemical industry.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in English.
  • Technical competencies as per ADNOC standard competencies.
  • Behavioural competencies as per ADNOC standard competencies.

Additional Information

Internal Communications & Relationships

  • Regular contact with Field, Operations Support, Production Assurance, Maintenance, and Engineering departments to ensure effective communications.
  • Frequent contact with work associates in Abu Dhabi and on super complexes up to Team Leader level to discuss shutdown preparation and coordinate work activities.
  • Regular contact with Shutdown committee and stakeholders on matters of Shutdown issues.

External Communications & Relationships

  • Frequent contact with concession holders when addressing their requirements and during site visits.
  • Regular contact with contractors' agents and representatives at equivalent level to discuss work requirements and evaluate performance.
