Emergency Medicine Specialist (UAE National)

Role Overview

Emergency Medicine Specialist position at SEHA in the United Arab Emirates. This role is restricted to UAE nationals.

Role Purpose

Deliver comprehensive emergency medical care to patients presenting with acute injuries, illnesses, and disorders. Provide timely clinical assessment, evidence-based treatment, and coordination across specialist services to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and take detailed medical histories.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests.
• Formulate personalized treatment plans for injuries, illnesses, and disorders within the specialty.

Treatment and Procedures

• Prescribe and administer appropriate medication and therapy.
• Perform necessary procedures and surgeries related to emergency medicine.
• Deliver specialized medical care aligned with clinical protocols.

Collaboration and Consultation

• Liaise and consult with other medical specialists, departments, and support services.
• Ensure holistic and integrated patient care across organizational boundaries.

Documentation

• Accurately document all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion.
• Comply with legal and regulatory documentation requirements.

Quality Improvement and Research

• Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Engage in clinical audits to enhance patient safety and care standards.
• Contribute to research activities within the department.

Supervision and Education

• Provide instruction, guidance, and supervision to junior medical staff, residents, and students.

Communication

• Communicate clinical information to patients and families in a timely and compassionate manner.
• Obtain informed consent for procedures as required.

Compliance

• Adhere to all hospital departmental and divisional policies and procedures.
• Comply with Department of Health (DOH) regulations.
• Follow occupational health and safety guidelines and infection control protocols.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: MBBS or equivalent degree from a recognized medical school.
• Post-Graduate Training: Completion of a structured clinical residency or fellowship program in emergency medicine.
• Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of clinical experience post-specialization, depending on DOH tier classification qualifications and specific hospital requirements.
• Licensing: Valid Department of Health (DOH) Abu Dhabi license or eligibility letter to practice in Abu Dhabi is highly preferred.
• Registration: Current, valid license from the country of last or current practice.
• Good Standing: Current Certificate of Good Standing from the relevant licensing authority.
• Examinations: Successful completion of the DOH licensing exam, which may involve an oral assessment depending on the specialty.

• Commitment to continuous medical education (CME/CPD).
• Fluency in English and Arabic required.
• Competence in other languages is a distinct asset.
