Electrical Technician

Role Overview

Electrical Technician at Burjline Builders, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment for a major industrial water and desalination operation.

Role Purpose

Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair the plant's electrical systems and equipment, including MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, motors, transformers, pumps, UPS systems, and electrical control systems. Support preventive maintenance, emergency breakdowns, commissioning, shutdowns, and electrical isolation activities in a plant environment.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain motors and pumps.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Motor Control Centers (MCCs).
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain MV/LV switchgear.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain power transformers.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain LV/MV power distribution systems.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical panels and control circuits.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain PLC and SCADA-related electrical components.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain UPS systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on MV and LV switchgear and VFDs.

Testing & Inspection

• Inspect, test, and maintain electrical panels, breakers, protection relays, and control circuits.
• Conduct insulation resistance testing using appropriate test equipment.
• Support maintenance and testing of protection relays and circuit breakers.
• Monitor plant electrical performance and identify potential equipment failures.

Safety & Compliance

• Carry out electrical isolation and de-isolation activities in accordance with approved procedures.
• Ensure compliance with LOTO, Permit-to-Work, and electrical safety procedures.
• Respond to emergency electrical breakdowns and support shift-based maintenance when required.

Operations & Coordination

• Assist with plant startup, shutdown, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate with Operations, Mechanical, and Instrumentation teams to minimize plant downtime.

Documentation & Reporting

• Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, control schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and spare-parts information.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma, ITI, or Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology.
• 3–5+ years of hands-on industrial electrical maintenance experience.
• Strong experience with MV and LV electrical systems.
• Hands-on experience with switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, motors, transformers, and circuit breakers.
• Experience with electrical protection relays and associated equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical control schematics and single-line diagrams.
• Experience with electrical testing, including insulation resistance testing.
• Knowledge of LOTO and electrical isolation and de-isolation procedures.
• Knowledge of Permit-to-Work and industrial electrical safety procedures.

Preferred Experience

• Water treatment, wastewater treatment, or desalination plant experience.
• Experience with RO plant equipment, particularly high-pressure and feed-water pumps.
• PLC and SCADA exposure.
• Experience with generators and UPS systems.
• Experience in plant commissioning, startup, and shutdown activities.
