Electrical Technician – Diesel Generators

Role Overview

Electrical Technician – Diesel Generators at MENA Consultant, located in Doha, Qatar. On-site position requiring fluency in English (written and spoken).

Role Purpose

Support the maintenance and troubleshooting of diesel generator systems through hands-on technical expertise, electrical fault diagnosis, and preventive maintenance of generator components and control systems.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform electrical maintenance and troubleshooting of diesel generator systems.
• Diagnose and rectify electrical faults affecting generator operation.
• Support the reliable operation of diesel generator electrical systems through appropriate maintenance and fault diagnosis.

Equipment Inspection & Testing

• Inspect, test, and troubleshoot alternators, ATS/AMF panels, controllers, battery chargers, and electrical wiring.
• Perform maintenance and troubleshooting activities on generators from Cummins, Caterpillar, SDMO, Perkins, and other manufacturers.

Technical Documentation & Control Systems

• Read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring diagrams during maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
• Work with generator control systems and controllers, including DSE, ComAp, PowerCommand, and SmartGen, where applicable.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in diesel generator maintenance and troubleshooting.
• ITI or Diploma in Electrical.
• Hands-on experience working with diesel generator brands such as Cummins, Caterpillar, SDMO, Perkins, and other leading manufacturers.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency with alternators, ATS/AMF panels, generator controllers, battery chargers, and electrical wiring.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge of DSE, ComAp, PowerCommand, or SmartGen controllers (preferred).
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Additional Information

• Valid driving license (preferred).
• Previous experience working in the GCC (preferred).
