Electrical Power Production Technician at Intrepid Global Solutions. This role installs, operates, and modifies electrical generating power production plants and Ground/Mobile Power Generation equipment.

Role Purpose

To install, operate, and maintain electrical power production equipment and systems, ensuring reliable power generation and distribution through proper operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and adherence to technical standards and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Equipment Setup

• Install electrical power plants, distribution equipment, and automatic transfer panels.
• Position equipment such as gasoline, diesel, and turbine engines; generators; switchgear; air compressors; and other power plant auxiliary equipment.
• Modify equipment according to technical publications.

Operations & Monitoring

• Operate electrical power plants and distribution equipment.
• Operate high voltage switches, circuit breakers, rheostats, and other controls on switchboards and distribution panels.
• Perform electrical power control and distribution functions.
• Observe and interpret instruments such as ammeters, voltmeters, frequency meters, synchroscopes, automatic temperature and pressure recorders, and engine oil, fuel, and coolant gauges.
• Adjust engine generator systems to maintain proper voltage, current frequency, and synchronization.
• Synchronize multi-generators.

Maintenance & Repair

• Maintain and repair electrical power generating equipment and automatic transfer panels.
• Accomplish operating and repair tasks according to technical specifications.
• Inspect, test, and service component systems such as safety, fuel, lubrication, cooling, air pressure, pumps, regulators, governors, and accessory equipment.
• Remove, repair, and replace defective power generating equipment components.
• Perform corrosion control.
• Inspect and replace gauges and meters.
• Bench check components and subassemblies.
• Test and calibrate repaired items.

Inspection & Troubleshooting

• Check equipment for serviceability.
• Check installed equipment to ensure compliance with publications, policies and directives.
• Perform inspections and interpret inspection findings to determine corrective action.
• Identify and record engine and generator malfunctions.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions and inspect parts for excessive wear and other conditions.
• Use precision test equipment.
• Review performance data and maintenance records to determine adequacy of maintenance.

Analysis & Problem-Solving

• Study layout drawings, wiring, schematic diagrams, and analyze construction and operating characteristics.
• Interpret data related to electrical power generating systems to prevent potential systems failure.
• Advise on problems installing and repairing electrical power production equipment.
• Solve maintenance problems.
• Develop and establish maintenance and operating procedures to ensure maximum efficiency.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain records and post entries on operation, inspection, and maintenance activities.
• Record meter readings, wear and alignment measurements, fuel consumption, and other data in performance logs.
• Furnish information for reports and recommend changes to correct defective equipment or improve operating procedures.
• Comply with environmental policies.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in operation and maintenance of engines, generators, and distribution components of electrical power production equipment, including a variety of makes and models.
• Task-certified 5-Level AAS Power Pro.

• Knowledge of types, capacity, and purpose of low and medium voltage circuits, circuit breakers, switches, fuses, regulators, relays, instruments, and meters associated with electrical generation and distribution.
• Ability to interpret instrument and meter readings.
• Proficiency in reading wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings, and technical publications.
• Knowledge of techniques for operating and maintaining internal combustion engines, generators, generating plants, distribution panels, and accessory equipment.
• Knowledge of use and purpose of test equipment.
• Knowledge of safety rules and practices.
• Knowledge of environmental policies.
• Knowledge of principles of management.
• Knowledge of operation and repair of electrical power production systems.

Additional Information

• Valid U.S. Driver's License required.
• Valid U.S. Passport preferred.
• Able to obtain and maintain a valid Residency Visa for Qatar.
• Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
• Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather, and hazardous conditions.
• Travel requirement: 100% in deployed location.
• Must have and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
