Early Years Teacher 2026/27 (Qatar Residents Only)

Role Overview

Early Years Teacher 2026/27 at Hayat Universal School, a BC Offshore School in Doha, Qatar. This position is available to Qatar residents only.

Role Purpose

Deliver high-quality early years education following the school's learning-outcomes-based curriculum and integrated thematic instruction approach. Create a safe, differentiated learning environment that supports students of varying skill levels and learning styles while maintaining professional communication with families and the school community.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum & Instruction

• Plan and implement lessons that follow the school learning-outcomes-based curriculum and integrated thematic instruction approach.
• Use effective teaching strategies, learning and professional resources available for the grade to support instruction within curriculum guidelines.
• Apply school mandated instructional frameworks and programs to create opportunities for differentiated learning for students with different skill levels or learning styles.
• Diagnose, instruct and evaluate the specific needs of students who are struggling to meet grade expectations.
• Seek assistance from the School Support Program when necessary.

Assessment & Monitoring

• Use As Learning and For Learning Assessments to monitor student progress.
• Plan instruction and provide regular feedback to students, their parents and school administration based on assessment data.
• Prepare formal report cards according to set dates.
• Attend and take an active role in staff meetings focused on analyzing student assessment and data for growth planning.

Student Support & Enrichment

• Provide enrichment events and activities including field trips, showcases, concerts, plays and productions at class level and/or school-wide level.
• Send homework assignments that are extensions of clearly defined school activities, appropriate to age, ability and independent level of students.
• Ensure homework provides opportunities for students to enrich, apply and review lessons and practice skills.
• Establish and maintain fair and just standards for student behavior with guidance of the school Code of Conduct.
• Create an effective and safe learning environment.
• Supervise students in the classroom, on school campus and at off-campus school-related activities.

Communication & Collaboration

• Communicate assignments and objectives to students in a well-organized manner using clear and precise language.
• Actively engage in discussions and planning at Grade Level Team level and across different grade levels to enhance consistency of practice and student achievement.
• Engage in parent conferences according to set dates.
• Maintain a positive professional relationship with parents including informing them of upcoming-week lesson summaries, behavioral issues and children's progress.
• Communicate concerns, ideas and information with colleagues, students, school administration, parents and the community in a professional and constructive manner.

Professional Responsibilities

• Guide, motivate and supervise the classroom assistant if one is assigned.
• Maintain accurate, complete and legible records as required by school policy.
• Display willingness to understand local culture and handle cultural nuances in a caring and respectful manner.
• Participate in professional development organized by the school.
• Perform entry assessment for new students applying to the school.
• Substitute for another teacher if requested by the Principal to address emergency situations.
• Perform other related, similar or logical duties as required or assigned.
• Accept possible change of teaching assignment based on school needs and considering experience, competencies and subject of specialty.

Qualifications & Experience

• Qatar resident.
• Bachelor degree in Education or English Language.
• Minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience.
• Experience in differentiated learning and student inquiry instruction strongly preferred.
• Experience in ESL education strongly preferred.
• International experience and/or attitude of respect to other cultures needed.

Additional Information

Working Hours & Schedule

• Official working hours are 6:30 am to 2:30 pm.
• All classes start at 7:00 am.
• K2 classes end at 1:10 pm.
• BC Program classes end at 2:05 pm for Grades 1–7 and 2:15 pm for Grades 8–12.
• Classroom teachers are expected to stay with their children until picked up, normally 20–30 minutes after end of classes.
• After-school meetings are conducted once a week from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm; attendance is required.
• Three weekly after-school events are used for collaboration.
• One weekly after-school event is for staff meetings.
• Working after school on planned days to make up targeted number of professional development hours.
• Attend Saturday school, not to exceed eight sessions for the school year.
• Meetings with parents of at-risk students take place after official working hours as needed.

Entry Assessment Duties

• Conduct entry assessments for new students applying to the school.
• Entry assessment normally takes place January–June and September–October of the following year.
• During peak months, may conduct 3–4 entry assessments per week.
• Each entry assessment lasts 30–40 minutes on average.
• Peak months are April–May and September–October of the following year.

Benefits

• Salary range QR 9,850–11,800 monthly for bachelor degree holders with minimum two years' experience willing to commit to two-year contracts, depending on educational qualifications and years of classroom teaching experience.
• End of service benefit equivalent to one month basic monthly salary for every full year of service; basic salary is 70% of gross salary quoted.
