Drill Bit Repair Technician: Dammam 2nd industrial City

Role Overview

Drill Bit Repair Technician at NOV, located in Dammam 2nd Industrial City. The technician reports to the Operations Manager/Supervisor and performs manual and machine grinding, blast cleaning, inspection, and thermal-related tasks including brazing and hardfacing to repair and assemble drill bits and DLR equipment to a high standard.

Role Purpose

To repair and assemble drill bits and DLR equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring all repaired equipment meets required quality, technical, and operational standards while maintaining compliance with company health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Repair and Assembly

• Repair and assemble drill bits and DLR equipment to a high standard.
• Assemble components to engineering drawings and set procedures.
• Carry out bit movements and material handling as required.
• Perform forklift loading and unloading as required.

Grinding, Cleaning, and Thermal Processes

• Complete manual and machine grinding, blast cleaning, inspection, brazing, and hardfacing tasks safely and efficiently.
• Use handheld grinding tools and gas torches for hardfacing and brazing jobs.
• Apply torch brazing and hardfacing processes with comprehensive understanding of oxy/acetylene and propane equipment and processes.
• Perform necessary checks on oxy/acetylene and propane equipment.

Quality and Inspection

• Ensure all repaired equipment meets required quality, technical, and operational standards.
• Inspect parts according to specified frequency and report any non-conformances.
• Maintain knowledge of standard measuring instruments and inspection techniques.

Operations and Workflow

• Support the Operations Manager/Supervisor in maintaining an efficient workflow and meeting operational deadlines.
• Be fully aware of personal workload, prioritize and organize to ensure deadlines are achieved.
• Support other departments and carry out other duties as business requirements dictate as reasonably expected by line manager.

Compliance and Safety

• Comply with all company health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
• Ensure personal compliance with all HSE legislation and HSE company policy.
• Adhere to contractual obligations, such as timekeeping.

Housekeeping and Professional Standards

• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area and department.
• Ensure a high standard of professionalism is maintained and that customer care is foremost.

• Be fully familiar and conversant with department and company policies, procedures, and processes, ensuring all work and actions undertaken are always in full compliance.

Qualifications & Experience

• Technical diploma or GED Certificate in metal fabrication, or 3–6 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5–7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• TIG welding competencies.
• Experience with the application of thermal-related processes using oxy fuel hardfacing and brazing processes is desirable.
• Previous welding experience in a light/heavy fabrication environment would be advantageous.
