Role Overview

Diagnostic Technician – MG at Ali & Sons Holding LLC. The role is based in the United Arab Emirates, serving MG vehicle owners across multiple service centres in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, and Al Ain.

Company Overview

Ali & Sons Holding LLC operates through Inter Emirates Motors, a subsidiary that has partnered with MG since late 2020. The company operates six showrooms and five service centres across the UAE with almost 100 after-sales representatives. MG is a British motor brand with a prestigious heritage dating to the 1920s, now with global presence and a diverse vehicle fleet.

Role Purpose

The Diagnostic Technician – MG is responsible for accurately diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical, electrical, electronic, and communication system faults in MG vehicles using approved diagnostic equipment and manufacturer procedures. The role ensures effective fault finding, high-quality repairs, minimal repeat repairs, and compliance with MG technical, warranty, safety, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnosis & Fault Finding

• Perform accurate diagnosis of complex electronic and electrical vehicle systems using VDS testers, diagnostic equipment, and specialist tools.
• Carry out guided fault-finding procedures to identify the root cause of vehicle complaints and recommend appropriate repairs.
• Distinguish between operating issues, system characteristics, and genuine technical faults.
• Diagnose and repair issues involving vehicle networking, distributed functions, communication systems, and electronic control units.
• Verify customer complaints during consultations and ensure that identified concerns are accurately addressed.

Customer Service & Technical Reporting

• Clearly diagnose and rectify customer complaints and provide detailed technical comments and completed quotations to the Service Advisor.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation whenever required.
• Report quality issues identified on new vehicles through the appropriate channels.

Vehicle Inspection & Assessment

• Inspect vehicles thoroughly and review vehicle history, service records, and related technical information before proceeding with repairs.

Warranty & Compliance

• Identify and address all applicable technical and warranty campaigns for MG vehicles.
• Ensure warranty repairs are carried out in accordance with company and manufacturer warranty procedures.

Coordination & Parts Management

• Coordinate with the Parts Advisor, Team Leader, and Workshop Controller to obtain the correct parts required for repairs.

Technical Maintenance & Updates

• Keep up to date with MG technical bulletins, service information, technical updates, and repair procedures.
• Maintain and manage an inventory of special tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Ensure all repairs are performed in accordance with MG guidelines, service manuals, IEM SOPs, and manufacturer standards.

Team Support & Mentoring

• Support and mentor other members of the diagnosis team and ensure proper use of diagnostic equipment and special tools.

Professional Development

• Continuously develop technical knowledge through formal training and other learning opportunities to remain current with evolving automotive technologies.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment and ensure company assets are properly maintained.
• Follow all health, safety, quality, and environmental (QHSE) procedures and regulations.
• Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.

Additional Duties

• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Service Manager or Master Technician.

Qualifications & Experience

• 2–3 years of relevant experience in a similar diagnostic or technical role.
• Experience as an Automotive Senior Mechanic, Automotive Electrician, or Automotive Mechatronics Engineer.
• Strong hands-on experience in automotive diagnostics, electrical and electronic systems, and fault finding.
• Experience using VDS testers and specialist diagnostic equipment.
• Knowledge of vehicle networking, communication systems, and electronic control systems.
• High Diploma in Automotive Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Certified Master Technician qualification is required.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
• Computer literacy with good knowledge of technical and diagnostic systems.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced workshop environment while maintaining manufacturer and company standards.
• Fluent English; Arabic is preferred.
