Role Overview

German International School Abu Dhabi (GISAD) seeks a full-time German language teacher (Deutsch-Lehrkraft) for Secondary Levels I and II, starting August 1, 2026. A second subject is optional. This is a local hire position.

GISAD is a recognized German international school currently serving approximately 550 students from kindergarten through Upper School (Abitur). The school was rated one of the best in Abu Dhabi by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge inspection in Summer 2021 and holds the "Excellent German International School" seal awarded by the Federal-State Inspection (Bund-Länder-Inspektion). For several years, the school has enrolled up to eight Emirati children per cohort in an integration program beginning in kindergarten.

Role Purpose

Teach German language to Secondary I and II students with excellence and expertise, preparing them for the Abitur examination while fostering sustained development of their linguistic competencies, cultural understanding, and passion for literature, language and communication. Contribute to the school's dynamic evolution by implementing innovative pedagogical concepts and optimizing existing processes.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction and Curriculum

• Deliver high-quality German language instruction in Secondary Levels I and II aligned with German educational standards, with direct preparation for the Abitur examination.
• Collaborate on the ongoing development of the school's internal curriculum and teaching materials.
• Integrate modern teaching methods and digital technologies to support the learning process.

Student and Family Engagement

• Build and maintain intensive, trusting communication with parents to ensure successful collaboration in the educational process.
• Create a safe learning environment through professionalism and responsibility in interactions with students, colleagues and families.

School Development and Community

• Participate actively in the dynamic advancement of the school by introducing new pedagogical concepts and optimizing existing processes.
• Engage actively in school life through projects, excursions and extracurricular activities.
• Respect and promote the diversity of the student body, foster intercultural competencies and create an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications & Experience

• Teacher certification (Lehramtsbefähigung) with second state examination (zweites Staatsexamen) for German, Secondary Levels I and II.
