Design Coordinator - Data Center

Role Overview

Design Coordinator - Data Center at Decima International, located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is an onsite position in the Project Management department.

Role Purpose

Support multidisciplinary design activities for major data center projects by coordinating technical information, tracking design deliverables, and maintaining effective communication between consultants, contractors, and engineering disciplines. The role ensures design information is accurate, coordinated, properly tracked, and available to support construction, commissioning, and handover activities.

Key Responsibilities

Design Coordination

• Support the Design Manager in coordinating multidisciplinary design activities.
• Coordinate design information across CSA, MEP, ICT, Security, and other technical disciplines.
• Assist with BIM coordination and clash detection/resolution activities.
• Identify design coordination issues, gaps, and conflicts and escalate them to the Design Manager.
• Support communication between engineering disciplines, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.

Deliverables & Documentation

• Track design deliverables, outstanding actions, and submission status.
• Maintain design registers, trackers, and action logs.
• Track RFIs, technical submittals, drawings, design comments, and clarifications.
• Maintain accurate records of approvals, revisions, design changes, and technical decisions.
• Coordinate design documentation required for construction activities.
• Support drawing and design-package reviews for completeness and coordination.

Follow-up & Escalation

• Follow up with consultants, contractors, and project teams on overdue submissions and responses.

Meetings & Reporting

• Support multidisciplinary design coordination meetings.
• Prepare meeting minutes and monitor closure of action items.
• Support preparation of design progress reports and client presentations.
• Assist with monitoring design progress against project schedules.

Commissioning & Handover

• Assist with commissioning and handover documentation as required.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Experience in design coordination, engineering coordination, or a similar project role.
• Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
• Experience tracking RFIs, technical submittals, drawings, and design clarifications.
• Experience maintaining design registers, trackers, and document logs.
• Strong understanding of multidisciplinary coordination across CSA, MEP, ICT, and other engineering disciplines.

Preferred

• Experience on data center or mission-critical projects.
• Experience within a PMC or engineering consultancy environment.
• Experience working on large-scale construction, infrastructure, MEP, commercial, or industrial projects.
• Understanding of Saudi construction requirements and local project practices.
• Experience supporting design through construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
• BIM coordination experience.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong organizational skills and ability to follow up on multiple actions simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Good communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of Revit.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of Navisworks.
• Familiarity with Procore (preferred).
• Familiarity with Bluebeam (preferred).
