Department Manager

Role Overview

Department Manager at Apparel Group. This role supports the Store Manager in ensuring the highest levels of customer service and driving profitable store operations.

Role Purpose

To ensure retail staff deliver exceptional customer service and maximize sales while assisting the Store Manager in the efficient and profitable operation of the store in accordance with company policies and procedures. The Department Manager assumes end-to-end store responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales

• Ensure the retail staff has the skill to provide the highest levels of customer service for maximizing sales.
• Maintain knowledge of new products, trends and fashion directives at all times to effectively respond to and anticipate customer needs.
• Be fashionable and well-groomed with updated product knowledge to ensure minimal stock loss.
• Be updated about the various brands of the group for suggestive selling to customers.

Store Operations

• Assist the Store Manager in efficient and profitable operation of the store in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Assume end-to-end store responsibility in absence of the Store Manager.
• Assist the Store Manager in implementation of operating procedures at the store as per company standards.

Staff Management

• Manage the daily roster, leave and grievances of the retail staff.
• Provide feedback to the Store Manager and Area Manager with regards to employees and products.

Compliance & Standards

• Ensure the brand and company's policies and procedures are adhered to by all staff at all times.
• Maintain visual merchandising standards at the stores at all times as per set VM standards.
• Regularly audit own store administration and resolve any issues.
• Ensure awareness and vigilance at all times of security in the store without any negligence.

Loyalty & Retention

• Promote the Club Apparel Loyalty Program of the company for repeat sales and maximizing loyalty.

Additional Information

• Must be physically fit to stand for extended hours and heavy lifting.
