Role Overview
Dentist GP Assistant (207582) at Nahdi. This position provides complete chairside assistance to general and specialist dentists during clinical and surgical dental procedures, performing clinical supportive functions.
Role Purpose
Support dentists in delivering safe, efficient patient care across all dental disciplines by providing skilled chairside assistance, maintaining clinical records, managing supplies, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout examination and treatment.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Assist dentists in diagnostic, operative, surgical, periodontal, preventive, orthodontic, prosthodontic, endodontic, and pedodontic procedures during patient examination and treatment.
- Prepare and dismiss patients for procedures.
- Perform four-handed dentistry to anticipate the dentist's needs and ensure efficient operative procedures.
- Retract cheeks and tissues and irrigate and aspirate mouth fluids without harm or discomfort to the patient.
- Participate with the dentist in patient examination and treatment as assigned to dental surgical operating teams.
- Perform expanded duty procedures under the supervision of the dentist as required.
- Instruct patients in post-operative home care procedures as directed by the dentist.
Sterilization & Equipment Management
- Perform point-of-use cleaning of instrumentation and disinfecting equipment.
- Maintain supply orders.
Patient Records & Documentation
- Review patient's medical history and alert the dentist to significant problems.
- Assist in updating the patient's history and flag the chart to note significant history problems.
- Chart accurately the findings of the patient's oral conditions as reported by the doctor.
- Record the treatment rendered in the patient's permanent chart.
Emergency & Safety
- Maintain and periodically review skills in First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation.
- Handle medical emergencies until the dentist arrives on the scene or assist the dentist in rendering emergency first aid until additional medical help is available.
General
- Provide post-operative instructions prescribed by the dentist.
- Perform other miscellaneous related duties as requested by the dentist or manager based on business need.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma required.
- 2β5 years of clinical experience.
Skills & Competencies
- Office and Health Information Systems.
- English: fluent speaking and writing.
- Arabic: fluent speaking and writing.
Additional Information
- Work Environment: 100% indoors.
- Working Days: 6 days per week.
- Days Off: 1 day per week.
- Working Hours: 8 net working hours according to shift schedule approved by head of department.
