Role Purpose
The Delivery Captain is responsible for delivering customer orders and collecting returns safely and in a timely manner within an appointed region. The role ensures goods are safely secured, the vehicle is in good condition, and the quickest route is taken to each destination.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery & Collections
- Deliver customer orders daily to wholesale and retail outlets and last mile customers.
- Collect returns to warehouse as assigned.
- Collect orders from shops for last mile delivery.
- Conduct shop-to-shop transfers.
- Check orders before delivery.
- Collect necessary documents from shops during returns.
- Collect cash from ecommerce cash-on-delivery customers and hand over as per procedure.
- Collect payment using credit card machine for ecommerce cash-on-delivery customers.
Operations & Process Management
- Complete all processes in Fareye.
- Comply strictly with assigned route and schedule.
- Receive and route all operating instructions via the Logistics Distribution Department.
- Load and unload the vehicle.
- Ensure the company vehicle assigned is used exclusively for company business only.
- Keep the assigned vehicle clean inside and out.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and minor maintenance tasks when necessary.
Reporting & Compliance
- Report all incidents, occasions of misplaced or lost packages to the Logistics Distribution Department.
- Report all maintenance issues.
- Report any accidents at first possible instance.
- Immediately report any breach in procedures, company policy or security to supervisor or management.
- Report all incidents of any nature and however caused to immediate superior, completing all necessary documentation promptly and accurately.
- Strict adherence to all traffic and road safety regulations.
Quality, Health & Safety
- Work within, promote and identify improvements in the company's Quality Management System as per ISO 9001 standards.
- Ensure that workplace health, safety and environment requirements as per OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 are met.
- Take responsibility for the security of the building and stock.
- Strictly follow, develop and improve standard processes, procedures and work instructions, and promote adherence to procedures.
- Always research to improve all warehouse operations according to company objectives.
