Role Overview
Data Engineer - Intern position at Bayut | dubizzle, based in the UAE across the seven emirates.

Role Purpose
Participate in exciting projects covering the end-to-end data lifecycleโfrom raw data integrations with primary and third-party systems through advanced data modelling to state-of-the-art data visualisation and development of innovative data products. Learn to build and work with both batch and real-time data processing pipelines in a modern cloud-based data warehousing environment while liaising with other departments to enable their success.
Key Responsibilities
Data Integration & Warehouse Development
- Execute raw data integrations with primary and third-party systems
- Build data warehouse modelling for operational and application data layers
- Develop in Amazon Redshift cluster environments
- Design and implement ETL solutions using Matillion ETL
SQL & Programming
- Develop SQL code as part of agile team workflow
- Maintain coding standards in SQL, Python and ETL design
- Ensure data quality, system stability and security
Data Products & Analytics
- Design and implement data products enabling data-driven features or business solutions
- Build data dashboards and advanced visualisations in Periscope Data with focus on UX, simplicity and usability
- Communicate insights and findings to non-technical audiences
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with other departments on data products including product and technology, marketing and growth, finance, core business, advertising and others
- Contribute to and strengthen team culture and ambition to be on the cutting edge of big data
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, physics or any related quantitative field
- Knowledge of relational and dimensional data models
- Knowledge of terminal operations and Linux workflows
- Good SQL skills across a variety of relational data warehousing technologies, especially in cloud data warehousing such as Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Snowflake or Vertica
