CYBERSECURITY OT ENGINEER

Role Overview

Senior Cybersecurity Specialist for Substation Automation Systems Testing & Commissioning at Hitachi Energy L.L.C, based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Full-time position reporting to Project Management.

Role Purpose

Act as the responsible commissioning engineer overseeing the installation and commissioning of Substation Automation systems for medium complexity projects. Manage completion of all commissioning activities efficiently and cost-effectively in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Representation

• Represent the Commissioning function at project meetings and design review meetings.
• Act as the Hitachi Energy lead for commissioning activities on a project.
• Ensure that Hitachi Energy is presented as a professional organization in all interactions with the customer.
• Interface with customers and external providers for approval of plant acceptance criteria, open issues closure and performance tests.
• Coordinate site activities focused on finalizing customer acceptance certification.

Commissioning Planning & Execution

• Contribute to creation of the project commissioning philosophy.
• Manage implementation of the project commissioning philosophy.
• Create work plans for work in own area of responsibility and proactively manage this work to deliver the agreed program on time, on quality and at targeted cost.
• Manage small Commissioning teams.
• Prepare project documentation for System Acceptance Testing (SAT).
• Obtain approvals from utilities for Commissioning activities of Substation Automation Systems.

Design & Documentation Management

• Manage implementation of commissioning design changes and the production of as-built project documentation.
• Support continuous improvement of project process and product and system design via provision of lessons learned feedback.

Risk & Contract Management

• Conduct risk and opportunity assessments in real time during the commissioning phase to ensure safe implementation of the commissioning philosophy and identification of potential variation requests to support contract claims.
• Report early any contract, quality, program, or cost issues to management, along with recommendations for resolution.
• Support Project Managers in issuing claims (new scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications, etc.).

External Management & Health & Safety

• Manage external organizations providing Commissioning with equipment, systems or services.
• Issue permits to work and provide guidance on health and safety requirements and work practices.
• Accept as complete work done by external organizations.
• Follow safety rules on construction sites according to regulations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Team Development & Knowledge Sharing

• Actively develop and coach colleagues.
• Cultivate a network of Engineering colleagues both within and outside own business unit.
• Take a lead role in developing function within own business unit gathering and sharing best practice.
• Create standard processes and tools.
• Use agreed processes and procedures to ensure that all commissioning activities comply with the required safety regulations and satisfy contractual requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering with in-depth knowledge of Networking and Cybersecurity.
• 5 to 10 years' experience as a Commissioning Engineer of Cybersecurity.
• 4 to 5 years' experience with large and medium complexity projects in operation.
• Utility approval in United Arab Emirates preferred.
• Certifications and training in Nozomi, Fortinet, IEC 62443 (all 4 modules), Fortinet, and CISCO Networking.

Skills & Competencies

• Thorough knowledge of Networking and Cybersecurity implementation, including Malware protection, whitelisting, and configuration and implementation of Firewall.
• Implementation of Substation Automation systems and different communication Protocols.
• In-depth product knowledge of Hitachi Energy and competitors' products.
• Working knowledge and understanding of SCADA systems on various protocols including IEC 101, IEC 104, and IEC 61850.
• Multi-priority and multi-tasking capability.
• Analytical and strategic approach.
• High customer orientation.
• Good communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in both spoken and written Arabic and English required.
