Cost Analyst

Role Overview

Cost Analyst at Emirates Flight Catering.

Role Purpose

Manage day-to-day data analysis for cost and manufacturing across Emirates Flight Catering business units, working with Production, Commercial and Supply Chain teams to drive efficiencies in production and procurement, while developing cost standards, tracking systems and analytical reporting to support financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Analysis & Monitoring

• Develop and analyse cost standards tracking systems, wastage analysis and major cost drivers to monitor and highlight trends for stakeholders.
• Analyse changes in products, menus design, raw materials or production methods to determine effects on cost.
• Perform Cost Benchmarking analysis to support decision-making on insourcing or outsourcing of products to maximise profitability.
• Collect, analyse and evaluate historical data to provide a basis for assumptions, methodologies and estimate results, applying sound reasoning and appropriate judgment in recommendations to support the section and business.

Reporting & Variance Analysis

• Support Costing Manager through proactive reporting analysis of variances and trends, communication of issues and opportunities to various stakeholders for action to maximise revenue and profit.
• Develop and design costing methodology, cost standards and KPI reporting in collaboration with Costing Manager.

Database & System Management

• Manage the updating and maintaining of the costing database in the relevant ERP system.
• Train and oversee the setting-up of ERP cost systems based on company policies and procedures.
• Manage the set-up, monitoring and reconciliation of Landed Cost rulings for Food and Packing Foreign related purchases to ensure appropriate allocation of costs.

• Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in Finance, preferably with background in production and/or manufacturing accounting.
• Minimum 2 years in a similar capacity.
• Background in performing analytical tasks and corresponding report preparation.

Skills & Competencies

• Advanced Excel functionality and proficiency in other MS Office applications.
• Advanced user of JDE ERP platform, or familiarity with any ERP system.
• Process improvements experience.
• Analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing; interact effectively with employees and stakeholders.
• Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
