Consultant/Specialist Anesthesia

Role Overview

Consultant/Specialist Anesthesia position at Astra ProMed in Abu Dhabi. Full-time employment.

Role Purpose

Provide safe, high-quality anesthesia services across a range of surgical and procedural specialties and contribute to comprehensive perioperative patient care in a leading healthcare facility.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment & Planning

• Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthetic assessments and develop individualized anesthesia plans.
• Assess and optimize patients with complex medical conditions prior to surgery.

Anesthesia Administration & Intraoperative Management

• Administer general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care according to clinical expertise and patient requirements.
• Monitor patients throughout surgical and procedural interventions and manage intraoperative complications.
• Perform anesthesia-related procedures within the scope of clinical privileges.

Post-Anesthetic & Recovery Care

• Provide post-anesthesia care and ensure appropriate pain management and patient recovery.

Emergency & Critical Support

• Manage airway emergencies and participate in resuscitation and critical care support when required.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Collaborate closely with surgeons, intensivists, nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Support teaching, supervision, and professional development of junior medical staff.

Governance & Quality

• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with hospital policies and patient-safety standards.
• Contribute to quality improvement, clinical governance, and patient-safety initiatives.
• Participate in emergency and on-call duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Medical degree from an accredited institution.
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in Anesthesiology / Anaesthesia.
• Relevant post-specialization clinical experience appropriate to the applied position.
• Strong experience in perioperative and anesthesia management.
• Current Good Standing Certificate and verifiable professional credentials.
• Eligibility for or a valid DOH Abu Dhabi Consultant or Specialist licence, as applicable.
