Consultant Urologist

Role Overview

Consultant Urologist at Astra ProMed, Abu Dhabi. Full-time position providing comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical care for patients with a broad range of urological conditions.

Role Purpose

To deliver expert urological care across outpatient consultation, complex case management, and advanced surgical intervention. The role emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration, minimally invasive procedures, and evidence-based treatment of urological malignancies, stone disease, functional disorders, and male reproductive health conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment & Diagnosis

• Conduct comprehensive outpatient consultations, examinations, and clinical assessments.
• Diagnose and manage complex urological conditions involving the kidneys, ureters, bladder, prostate, and male reproductive system.
• Review and interpret laboratory, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and other diagnostic investigations.

Urological Conditions Management

• Manage kidney and urinary stones, benign prostatic hyperplasia, urinary obstruction, infections, incontinence, and lower urinary tract disorders.
• Diagnose and manage urological malignancies, including prostate, bladder, and kidney cancers.
• Evaluate male reproductive health conditions, including infertility and erectile dysfunction.

Surgical Procedures

• Perform appropriate endoscopic, laparoscopic, minimally invasive, and other urological surgical procedures.
• Perform procedures such as cystoscopy, ureteroscopy, lithotripsy, and other interventions according to clinical expertise.
• Provide pre-operative assessment and post-operative follow-up.

Clinical Management

• Manage both elective and emergency urological presentations.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and counsel patients regarding available treatment options.

Collaboration & Governance

• Collaborate with oncology, nephrology, radiology, anesthesia, and other multidisciplinary teams.
• Maintain accurate patient records and comply with UAE healthcare regulations and hospital policies.
• Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, audits, and professional development.
• Mentor junior doctors and contribute to departmental education where required.
• Participate in on-call duties as applicable.

Qualifications & Experience

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in Urology.
• Board certification, CCT/CCST, fellowship, or equivalent qualification recognized by the relevant UAE health authority.
• Relevant consultant-level clinical experience in Urology.
• Strong experience in managing complex urological cases.
• Experience in minimally invasive, endoscopic, and laparoscopic procedures is preferred.
• Robotic urology experience may be advantageous for applicable positions.
• Eligibility for or possession of a valid DOH Consultant license is preferred.
