Consultant Pediatric Surgeon

Role Overview

Consultant Pediatric Surgeon at Astra ProMed, Dubai. Full-time position providing comprehensive surgical care to infants, children, and adolescents, managing congenital, developmental, and acquired surgical conditions with safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care.

Role Purpose

Diagnose and manage pediatric surgical conditions across the full spectrum of patient ages and pathology, perform elective and emergency procedures, and lead multidisciplinary care coordination to ensure optimal surgical outcomes and family-centered treatment.

Key Responsibilities

Surgical Care Delivery

• Diagnose and manage pediatric surgical conditions in infants, children, and adolescents.
• Perform elective and emergency pediatric surgical procedures within the scope of practice.
• Manage congenital anomalies, abdominal conditions, gastrointestinal disorders, and other pediatric surgical conditions.
• Perform appropriate minimally invasive and open surgical procedures, where qualified.

Patient Assessment & Treatment Planning

• Evaluate and manage pediatric patients requiring preoperative and postoperative care.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and coordinate multidisciplinary care.
• Provide surgical consultations and second opinions for complex pediatric cases.
• Counsel parents and caregivers regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical procedures, risks, and expected outcomes.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

• Collaborate with pediatricians, neonatologists, anesthesiologists, radiologists, and other specialists.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and teaching activities where applicable.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure appropriate perioperative management, patient safety, and infection-control practices.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with UAE healthcare regulations and facility policies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in General Surgery and/or Pediatric Surgery, in accordance with applicable UAE licensing requirements.
• Additional fellowship or advanced training in Pediatric Surgery is highly desirable.
• Eligible for or holding a valid DHA Consultant license/eligibility in the relevant specialty.
• Demonstrated experience in pediatric surgical procedures and the management of complex pediatric cases.
