Consultant Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon

Role Overview

Consultant Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon at Astra ProMed in Dubai. Full-time position providing comprehensive orthopedic and surgical care to infants, children, and adolescents with congenital, developmental, traumatic, and acquired musculoskeletal conditions.

Role Purpose

Diagnose, treat, and manage pediatric orthopedic conditions across the full spectrum of age groups and pathology, from congenital and developmental disorders to trauma and sports injuries, using both surgical and non-surgical approaches within a multidisciplinary healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Diagnosis & Management

• Diagnose and manage pediatric orthopedic conditions in infants, children, and adolescents.
• Manage congenital and developmental conditions, including limb deformities, developmental dysplasia of the hip, clubfoot, and limb-length discrepancies.
• Evaluate and treat pediatric fractures, sports injuries, and other musculoskeletal trauma.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on the patient's age, condition, and functional needs.

Surgical & Procedural Delivery

• Perform elective and emergency pediatric orthopedic procedures within the scope of practice.
• Provide surgical and non-surgical management of pediatric spinal, hip, knee, foot, and limb conditions.
• Perform appropriate reconstructive, corrective, and minimally invasive procedures where qualified.

Perioperative Care & Planning

• Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments and provide postoperative care and rehabilitation planning.
• Counsel parents and caregivers regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical procedures, risks, and expected outcomes.

Collaboration & Consultation

• Collaborate with pediatricians, physiotherapists, rehabilitation specialists, radiologists, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Provide consultations and second opinions for complex pediatric orthopedic cases.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and teaching activities where applicable.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with UAE healthcare regulations and facility policies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in Orthopedic Surgery, in accordance with applicable UAE licensing requirements.
• Additional fellowship or advanced training in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery is highly desirable.
• Eligible for or holding a valid DHA Consultant license/eligibility in the relevant specialty.
• Demonstrated experience in pediatric orthopedic diagnosis, treatment, and surgical procedures.
