CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

Role Overview

Construction Manager at NMDC Group.

Role Purpose

Manage all on-site construction activities to ensure execution of field work in conformance with project drawings, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, procedures, quality requirements and safety standards. Direct supervision and coordination of all self-performed and contracted work while controlling project schedule and cost through efficient use of all construction resources.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Culture

• Play an active role in the development of the safety culture on the project, making safety a natural part of all work performed.
• Remain knowledgeable of safety policies and procedures and perform assigned duties in a safe manner.
• Ensure that personnel comply with established safety policies and procedures and practice safe work habits.
• Hold responsibility for the safety of all personnel being supervised.

On-Site Management & Supervision

• Perform on-site management, supervision and coordination of all self-performed and contracted work.
• Management of, administer, train and motivate all personnel in construction operations.
• Manage and maintain all client relations at the site.

Schedule & Planning

• Oversee the development of project schedules in cooperation with the construction engineers and contractors.
• Ensure that daily and weekly short-range planning is maintained down to the foreman level.
• Determine manpower levels to attain schedule milestones.
• Monitor manpower levels and craft mixes to ensure conformance with the construction plan.
• Control project schedule and cost through the efficient use of all construction resources and contractors.

Quality & Constructability

• Ensure execution of field construction activities in conformance with project drawings, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, procedures, quality requirements and safety standards.
• Maintain quality of all work in accordance with the standards as specified in the design documents.
• Review design scope and approach with regard to constructability and submit recommendations for change.

Cost & Productivity Management

• Monitor productivity and cost and implement appropriate action to maintain maximum labor productivity and cost-effectiveness.
• Control change and scope creep, ensuring that all scope changes are quickly and properly documented.
• Ensure that change orders are approved prior to the performance of work.

Contractor & Resource Management

• Manage the contractual commitments of contractors, including cost, quality and schedule.
• Coordinate contractor field activities.
• Ensure effective construction equipment use and maintenance program.
• Ensure an effective plan for the supply and control of tools and supplies.
• Plan and manage the project's temporary facilities.

Labor Relations & Administration

• Assist the Site Industrial Relations in the overall administration of labor relations policies.
