Commis II (Employee Canteen) at InterContinental Ras Al Khaimah Mina Al Arab Resort & Spa, operated by IHG Hotels and Resorts. The resort is located on Hayat Island in Ras Al Khaimah, less than an hour from Dubai.

Role Purpose
Support the daily preparation of fresh and enjoyable meals for colleagues in the Employee Restaurant by assisting senior chefs with food preparation and cooking while maintaining food safety and kitchen standards.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation
- Assist with daily food preparation and cooking under the guidance of senior chefs.
- Prepare mise en place according to daily production requirements.
- Follow recipes, cooking methods and portion standards.
Food Safety and Storage
- Check food items and ensure ingredients are properly stored.
- Follow FIFO procedures and help prevent food spoilage and waste.
- Check refrigerators, freezers and food storage areas.
- Follow food safety, hygiene and health standards at all times.
- Understand and apply safe food handling practices.
Kitchen Operations
- Keep your workstation and kitchen equipment clean and tidy.
- Support other kitchen sections whenever required.
- Take part in training and develop your culinary skills.
Qualifications & Experience
- Culinary qualification or relevant kitchen operations experience.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.
Skills & Competencies
- Understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling.
- Ability to work well within a busy and diverse culinary team.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs.
- Positive, hardworking and team-focused attitude.
- Physical strength to lift, push and pull big objects up to 50 lbs (23 kg), which can also involve bending and kneeling.
- Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
