Role Purpose

Manage individual products and activities within an allocated kitchen area, delivering quality work under the guidance of senior staff while maintaining strict food hygiene and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Cooking

• Proactively participate in and support Commis I responsibilities, including final processing, cooking, dishing and cutting as applicable to the section.
• Familiarize yourself with products, processes, menus, ingredients and equipment in the area of operation to contribute effectively.
• Arrange and dish food items according to specified menus in compliance with established Hygiene and Safety Procedures.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure quality of food items received from Commis III are as per specifications.
• Contribute to ensuring that food items are stored and handled in a manner as briefed and guided by seniors.
• Always maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and tidiness in the kitchen, storage, chillers and freezers.
• Comply with all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental management policies, procedures and controls.

Equipment & Maintenance

• Ensure that all kitchen equipment is in good working order and report any faults or damage to supervisor.

Continuous Improvement

• Share ideas with seniors on ways to reduce costs and expenses in a proactive manner.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum Senior Secondary School certificate.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in culinary, including any apprenticeship or industrial training.
